Bit of an unfortunate finish to Jayden Bull's Ghent campaign with a slip in the high bar final that landed him in 5th. But errors aside, he has a real flair for the apparatus. That much is obvious. So chin up, sonny, and chalk it up to experience. I have to admit it's a bit weird seeing new faces represent Aussie MAG overseas! I'm so used to the usual suspects!
And speaking of people going places, best of luck to our Junior Commonwealth Games team who yesterday departed for the Isle of Man! I promise not to make any The Fast Show jokes*.

I know Emma Nedov is on the junior cwg team but who else is? Wishing them the best of luck! Brinds
thought people might be interested to know that nominative registrations for worlds are out.
The team listed:
Reserve: Nikola CHUNG
Team: Ashleigh BRENNAN Georgia Rose BROWN Emily LITTLE Larrissa MILLER Lauren MITCHELL Mary Anne MONCKTON
The entries were due Sept 2 so a fairly recent indication of what Peggy surmises the team will be. But as always, THESE NAMES ARE NOT FINAL.
I personally don't think it's a great team, especially where vault and beam are concerned. I feel there are other combos of girls that could score higher.
Brown is not really useful in this team except on one event, bars. She is also okay on floor but floor is the strongest event with this team. It it the best or second best event of everyone. Which is kind of a stupid strategy because you can hardly make up any ground on floor, given the way the code is structured. Chung is a better bar worker, has a better vault, and a much better beam, so I wouldn't be surprised to see her rise above Brown.
Chung may be a better potential bar worker, but when last seen her start value was about a point lower than GRB's.
Not the team I would have expected or picked, but then I imagine readiness and fitness will have a lot to do with selection given the number of injuries the girls are carrying.
If this is the team that goes to worlds then it could be Lauren, Emily, Mary-Anne & Georgia-Rose AA, Ashleigh VT/BB/FX and Larrissa UB. I hope Larrissa gets her bars together if she makes the team. This team doesn't surprise me especially considering all the injuries
So where has that info come from? Surely they can't be announcing any sort of team without doing the 2nd trial. Or are these the only girls a available to trial. Very sad and worrying if so.
so I guess Lorenzin + Donald +McGrath + Wurth + Simpson +Wheeler + Exum + Bonora have not recovered from their injuries....a shame, at full strength, this could have been a great year for us.
It is NOT a final list. Many countries still have to decide on squads and teams. And of course, we've even seen changes 24 hours from competition. The federations are in no way bound by the lists, for the gymnasts at least.
But it's fun to speculate! For example, the USA have Anna Li in their nominative line-up (and no Chellsie Memmel). What does it mean??? The Russians don't list Paseka at all. Who knows....
Me too!! There's so much more at stake this year than at previous Worlds. Nobody wants to have to trial again at the Test event early next year. Qualifications this year is going to be INTENSE for all but the 'big 4' Russia Romania USA and China... everybody else is very even and it's all going to come down to who puts it together on the day.
The qualification is going to be difficult. With only 8 places assured for London the 'big 4' of USA Russia, Romania and China take up four and there are four places left... Spain has been kicking some butt lately, Japan has home ground advantage and a sweet team, UK will be up there and France and Italy are also pretty damn good. It will be a fight so I am hoping and praying that the selection trial goes really well, our girls are healthy and we have the meet of our lives!
As for our boys... I just really want Prashanth to medal on Pommel and get an individual berth. I don't think the team can qualify but I think he's a real medal chance
I know that isn't the final team, but I'm surprised by it nonetheless. Especially the inclusion of Miller. She is unreliable and has been outpaced by other bar workers. Monckton, Mitchell and Brown would have bars covered in TF, so I don't see the point of including her on the team.
Anyone know what is happening with Georgia Simpson and Angela Donald? I thought one of them would feature...
Italy does have injury concerns but Brazil is back in a big way. And definitely Spain have a lot going for them at the moment. I love how people are basing their worlds team inclusions on TF when I think the priority would be to MAKE TF... its certainly not a guarantee this year.
well 2 of Amelia/Nikki/Georgia Rose will be going to Tokyo - one as the last spot and one as the travelling reserve. I feel sorry for the one that gets left at home.
Lets be honest, Budack, Joura, King Koi and Greeley aren't great chances to actually make the team... unless they have had major improvements since Nationals.
mitchell, miller, little, chung, greeley, brown, brennan, monckton, mcgrath, king koi & wheeler are invited to the trial, 11 gymnasts. simpson was invited, but declined due to injury, then budack was invited, but declined. vis did not put exum up for selection. bonora and donald were invited, but declined, not fit enough. many other seniors still recovering or not fit enough.
I love our girls and fully support our team, but I don't think we have the difficulty THIS year to challenge for medals. With the current Code, the results are partially pre-determined (barring major misses like Kramarenko's vault).
I think it will be quite challenging for us to make top 8 this year. I think we have a shot, but we will have to hit.
Once we are there, though, we have a good chance at 6th place. Top four will almost certainly be USA, China, Russia and Romania. I'm pretty sure Japan will be 5th place, but they may improve to 4th.
Next year, thogh -- look out world! SURELY we have used up all our bad luck with injuries by now?
Actually, I think our team has the potential to be better than last year's, or at least cleaner and prettier.
Our depth problems won't be as apparent in team finals if we get there, either.
Romania seem to be struggling on vault and bars as well...not that the judges will necessarily see it that way, but they were pretty rough at their nationals.
In Anaheim, it was far more execution-dependent as everyone's routines started from 10.0 (or thereabouts).
Now, unlimited difficulty means that we can have teams starting with multi-point advantages over us. It means that no matter how well we perform on the day, to some extent there is a limit of how well we can can do, unfortunately.

Well that's what we call life, anyway we wish the best of luck for the Juniors team to their training.
Along with Emma Nedov, is Alexandra Eade & Maddie Leydin, both of VIS. Mikhail Barabach is the coach.
Love that first combination -- haven't seen anyone put those two particular skills together before.
Looking forward to seeing Jayden's career progress.

one thing good about that team is that it is well balanced IF we make TF -

Little
Mitchell
UB
3 of:
Mitchell
Miller
Monckton
Brown
BB
Monckton

I want us to make team finals more than anything else in the world.

I would also be acstatic if our boys made the top 16 and had another chance to compete as a team next year! I truly believe they are capable.

don't forget that canada also beat us by a huge margin at the Japan cuP...
The competition is...
Japan
Great Britain
Italy
(the 3 other TF qualifiers from 2010)
Plus:
Brazil
Canada
Spain
France
Netherlands

Me's list is here:
Jayden BULL MAG reserve gymnast
Joshua JEFFERIS
Luke WIWATOWSKI
Luke WADSWORTH
Prashanth SELLATHURAI
Thomas PICHLER
Samuel OFFORD
No Phil Rizzo... is he still injured?
Of course this is also nominative..
When IS the next selection camp? Anyone know? I know it was in September sometime.
Georgia Simpson is still recovering from her dislocated patella.
Starts on Sunday at AIS and goes all week
Thanks, Anon@4.46!
Anyone know who will be attending?
Ashleigh
Lauren
Emily
Larissa
Amelia
Georgia-Rose
Nikki
Mary-Anne
Amelia, really?! Even if she doesn't make the team, that's so exciting that her recovery has progressed so far.
BTW, just a reminder to everyone that the Gymnastics Victoria broadcast is tomorrow!
why only 8 girls? shouldn't they invite the other healthy seniors (Budack/King Koi/Greeley/Joura for example) since there are 12 spots at trials?
well 2 of Amelia/Nikki/Georgia Rose will be going to Tokyo - one as the last spot and one as the travelling reserve. I feel sorry for the one that gets left at home.
Is Wheeler still injured too? And Donald I guess

Anon 12.27, Where was that info from? How do you know who was invited and declined for what ever reason, your information is not correct.
What about Zoe? Any news?
What about Zoe? Any news?
Don't think it would be the girls themselves declining, more like thier program. Don't think they would have such a say in the decsision.
Why do you say that? These are young adults, not child robots.
jazminne cassis and georgia godwin are also attending.
I like our chances this year. I think we can seriously make a run at Romania and the 4th spot in the team competition.
Hahahaha. That's the spirit! Don't let the reality of our situation get in the way. Maybe you think we can medal?
Anon at 9:27am, you may jest but you're forgetting our bronze team medal at the Anaheim worlds in 2003. However unexpected that was it did happen!!
Sorry but Romania has some awesome gymnasts this year, much improved in last year... pushing for 5th will be a good goal but making TF the priority.
I love our girls and fully support our team, but I don't think we have the difficulty THIS year to challenge for medals. With the current Code, the results are partially pre-determined (barring major misses like Kramarenko's vault).
