The Morning After The Night Before

Ah, the shaky, uncertain void that is the post-Olympic period. Everybody rubs their eyes, slows down their pace and loses a big chunk of internet traffic.

... well maybe that's just me. ;)

Watch out for our gymnasts during coverage of 'welcome home' parades being held nationwide over the coming days.

Meanwhile, Lauren Mitchell says thanks for the support and reassures us she will still be around for the rest of the year.

  2. Ah well no rest for the younguns, junior camp starts next week at the AIS. Looks like it could be a bit of a ball-buster.

    ReplyDelete
  3. What does "ball-buster"refer to?

    ReplyDelete
  4. I also don't understand. Do you mean they will go hard on this group since the preparation for Rio basically starts with them this week?

    ReplyDelete
  5. It means that it is looking quite intense with a lot of strength work

    ReplyDelete
  6. and how do you know this? are you a coach?

    ReplyDelete
  7. And it's going to be a ball-buster since I obviously didn't work the last group hard enough. Anyone who isn't injured is not working hard enough

    ReplyDelete
  8. Um, it can't be a ball-buster since it is a WAG camp. They don't have balls.

  13. It really is quiet on here hey.

Anyone up for a game of gymnastics 'this or that'? All you do is give a choice of 2 options (this or that), and the next poster answers with their preference, before asking for the next preference.

    okay...

    floor or beam?

(next poster answers, then asks for the next choice and so on)

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete

    Difficulty or execution?

    ReplyDelete
  28. difficulty...

best aussie vaulter Emily little or Trudy Mcintosh

    ReplyDelete
  29. Trudy....so far. After all, she pioneered a new vault and competed two high level vaults from different vaulting families, all on the old horse.

I say so far because I think Emily is a fabulous natural vaulter, really dynamic, and I'd love to see her work towards a vault final. Maybe a Tsuk 1.5?

Worst-timed injury: Dasha Joura or Lisa Moro?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Lisa Moro. looooved this girl!!! Such a shame she didn't reach her potential. For the record I say bring back compulsories!!!

    Lauren Mitchell or Allana Slater?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Mitchell for sure!

Mitchell's current floor routine, or her previous one?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Neither.

Lisa Skinner's Arabian floor routine or Dasha Joura's tango?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Unfair, love them both, calling that one a tie.

Team comp or All Around or Event Finals? What do you like to watch the most or think is moist important?

    ReplyDelete
  34. I like to watch EF the most.

Ban the step up beam mount in elite comp - yes or no?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yes, but not by eliminating from the Code, but by making interesting mounts worth the risk.

Onodi or Mostepanova -- what do you call the back dive half turn to front walkover on beam?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Onodi (my all-time fav beam skill!!)

    ReplyDelete
  41. yes. might place more emphasis on actually coaching vault properly in this country.

vocals in floor music - yes or no?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yes but make it a percentage - so not more than 50% of the track to have vocals - just enough to express a point. Not so much that it takes the attention away from the gymnast.

Allow specialists at nationals in IDP 10 or only at Jnr and Senior?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Only at jnr and snr levels.
