Wild Rose of Mexico

Very best wishes to Victoria's Georgia Rose Brown competing at the Mexico Open tomorrow.

Follow the event here. Georgia has a solo profile page. You can also check out the "galerias" tab to see photos from the 2011 event, at which Australia also competed. The Couch Gymnast had a quick chat to Georgia before she departed.

Update -

After day 1 and two apparatus, GRB is currently in 3rd place overall on 27.700, and sitting in second place on bars. She vaulted a yurchenko full, and VHPC reports her bars was clean for 14.150.

Gymnastics Australia are putting up photos here.

See video of Georgia's bars routine here and her vault here.

Update - beam and floor a little hesitant but stood up, according to bootleg viewers. 12.95 for her floor (incl. double tuck, double pike).

After 2 days of competition, Georgia has finished in 4th overall with a score of 54.300.

Video of her beam routine from day 2 is here, her floor is about 12 minutes in here and her (stunning!) routine from the competitor's gala can be seen from 17 minutes onwards here.

  1. Georgias upgrade on vault? Yurchenco 1.5?

If she does that well I will be so impressed! She is so tall and really struggles with power, I hope it will inspire some of the Aussie girls much more suited to vault still doing layouts and front tuck/pike to go for it and fulfill their potential as well

    Good luck Georgia!

  2. Reading Couch Gymnast's story on Georgia Rose in Mexico and saw the add for National Artistic Coach position. Thought it was only speculation that Peggy would retire. So better get your applications in, closing date 26th October.

  5. Georgia's bars look really good! Well done! Would love to see her add a half out on the dismount.

As for a FTY - sigh.

All the best for the rest of the meet!

  6. Georgia placed Fourth, floor it seems let her down and a bit hesitant on beam. Good job after a long year. At least she has continued to train not like a lot of our Seniors. National clubs will see just about no Seniors competing.

  7. Have any seniors retired other than Ashleigh? I am pretty sure all the Vic hpc girls are training

  9. Awww...disappointed for Georgia that she couldn't hold onto 3rd place, but great experience and exposure for her.

Where would she go? Any news on Peggy and the National Coach position?

  22. I don't think we should expect any news on the National Coach position for a little while yet. Applications don't even close until tomorrow.

  23. Any results available from the Chetkovich Cup held last night???

  24. Olivia Vivian won the Alana Slater Medal - not sure what the criteria were - highest score maybe. The scores were in the high teens to high twenty's so not sure how it was being judged.
Olivia's routine was very entertaining though - pink panther music and a tail which dropped down for the second half. She gave the judges lollies before she went on and left the floor during the routine to take one and eat it.
    She looked in great shape.
There was a 40 year old Ukrainian MG (can't remember his name) who was pretty cool.
GWA put updates on Facebook so you could have a look there.
