I must admit that I definitely see merit in students having to continue English, maths, sciences and social studies all the way through their secondary education. It's too limiting to expect teenagers to choose their career subjects at such a young age.

I would love to have seen Chloe in the NCAA.Wolfiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18223478762723644411noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5575696150347887818.post-22798600872909936742009-04-22T00:19:00.000+10:002009-04-22T00:19:00.000+10:00sounds like that's something the Aspire teams and ...sounds like that's something the Aspire teams and Athlete career development people need to take note of. Our girls are encouraged to drop classes at school to manage their training schedules, but someone needs to help them understand what they can't drop if they aspire to US college gym at some point in their careers. I know this pathway is relatively new, but it seems a real shame for someone like Chloe to have a door shut for a non gymnastics reason.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5575696150347887818.post-30858804844936654472009-04-21T22:53:00.000+10:002009-04-21T22:53:00.000+10:00She didn't take the right subjects to fulfill NCAA...She didn't take the right subjects to fulfill NCAA requirement. So, like Aussie university courses have certain pre-requisites, the NCAA requires that athletes take subjects in English, sciences, maths and social sciences right through to year 12 to qualify for NCAA. And if you're missing one, then you can't just take the missing subject in year 12 and call it even, you'd have to go back to the point where you dropped that subject and start again, which could take a few years. American schools demand that students take a mix of subjects from these areas, because they continue taking a broad range of subjects in the early years of university, but Aussie schools don't because the universities don't need them to.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5575696150347887818.post-56228849095429431832009-04-21T18:00:00.000+10:002009-04-21T18:00:00.000+10:00Anyone know what they mean when they say "didn't h...Anyone know what they mean when they say "didn't have the core classes"?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5575696150347887818.post-9373138234390247072009-04-21T13:29:00.000+10:002009-04-21T13:29:00.000+10:00So sad to hear that Chloe won't get to experience ...So sad to hear that Chloe won't get to experience the NCAA style gymnastics enviroment that I think she is built for but glad to hear she will still be involved with gymnastics and I hope to see her around at various Brissie/QLD comps with her gymnasts.Step It Up:https://www.blogger.com/profile/04310442817651481483noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5575696150347887818.post-76159960621150174352009-04-21T02:40:00.000+10:002009-04-21T02:40:00.000+10:00Dang!
