WAG Qualification LIVE!

Here we go, here we go, here we go...

And already I need a change of pants!

Follow quick hits here, or here, and if you're a Twitter follower you can follow @gymnasticKT or @intlgymnast. It's a bit hard (for me, personally) to live blog AND liveTweet at the same time. But by all means, follow @ozgymblog while you're there!

International Gymnast also has quick hits on Facebook.

View the official start list here.

Subdivision 1: Georgia Bonora

She's in the "sparkly pink" leotard.
(Thanks, K.)
Bonora (AUS) VT: FTY (hop).

From IG:

Georgia Bonora AUS opened on vault--Yurchenko full with the usual rebound on the landing--5.0/8.5/13.4 yes the now normal new middle line deduction of .1

Scores seem quite low thus far in this session. COULD Lauren be met with 'later subdivision score boosting', the likes of which we've seen in Worlds and Olympics past?

UB comaneci, clear hip to undershoot, open legs on giants, double front with big step forward and squat landing. Score 12.9.

BB wolf jump, switch leap - back tuck, free aerial, flic – layout, onodi, side somi (wobble), free cartwheel, ro – double pike off (low chest and step fwd).13.25

She's 6th overall after 3 rotations.

FX full in (oob landed, chest low), double back (hop), triple spin, 1 ½ through 2/1 (landed oob), double pike dismount.

Ohhhhh crap.

Bonora AUS on Floor--Full in mount but stepped out of the area, tuck double, 2 3/4 flat foot turn, 1 1/2 step out to full out of the area, double pike landed low and stepped forward. 5.2-7.225/.6 neutral--11.825

Might've been the ankles playing up? Or something? She's now 7th AA after that subdivision. I just want to go give her a hug! It's like Dasha in Beijing all over again!

Buck up, GBo! You did your best!

Subdivision 2: Shona Morgan, Larrissa Miller

Morgan (AUS) BB split jump –wolf jump, free aerial – flic – layout, switch leap – rulfova, ½ split leap (fall), switch ring leap, side aerial (fall), side somi, ro – double pike off (step back). 11.025

Oh wow.

I jinxed it, didn't I.

I disappeared for TEN MINUTES and this happens. Poor Shona.

Morgan VT during warm up she landed very short her BAITOVA and injured herself, she is still on the floor trying to get up, her knee is in pain and she is crying.

She was stretchered out after being seen to by a huddle of medics.

Oh, I do hope she's ok. CAN YOU HEAR ME FROM WHERE YOU ARE SHONA? WE LOVE YOU, GET BETTER SOON!!!!

I hope Larrissa and Lauren don't get rattled by this. They deserve to go on and do well for Shona as well as themselves. Sorry to get all Remember The Titans on you. This was NOT the Worlds any of us were hoping for! Oh this is awful so far. I know I always say "don't sound the death knell" but yeesh, at the rate we're going, Lauren could be hit by lightning just walking into the arena when the time comes.

Please gymgods, let the world right itself again and let the Aussies have some redemption.

Ok, can't dwell on the bad stuff.

It's Larrissa's time to shine!

Holy crap, IG says

Sorry we missed Larrissa Miller on Bars where she scored 6.1-8.55--14.65 which is the highest score there so far!!!!

And then...

stalder 1/1 – Gienger, undershoot, good lines, stalder ½ - Jaeger, full in (stuck). Good.

  2. Seems like the scores are really harsh. Hopefully loz does benefit from the later subdivision.

  3. 13.25 BB for G, sounds like she may have difficulty making the AA after all.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Could someone remind me - how many make the all-around final? Is it just 8?
    Thanks
    MH

  5. MH 24 ppl make the AA final and top eight make event finals

    ReplyDelete
  6. Thanks! I knew I got 8 from somewhere

  7. After 3 rotations Georgia is in 4th lace as Dragoi is not competing on all 4 events.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Hmmm, the low landings etc would seem to indicate perhaps a lack of fitness, which would make sense coming back from the injury. I think it's promising that she hasn't fallen...we KNOW she can do all these skills, so sounds like it will just be a matter of a bit more time!

Go girls! We are supporting you!

  9. Maybe georgia is doing ok!as every1 is scoring incredebly low.yyl scored top score 14.3 for beam with an amazing routine.this is whack

    ReplyDelete
  10. yes, I think that kills her AA hopes. Her two OOB landings cost her 1.0.

    ReplyDelete
  11. FX score 11.825

If she had managed even a 12.8 she would have made the AA I think but not now.

    ReplyDelete
  12. She is 7th after that sub.

So disappointed for her, going into floor she was in a great position to finish 3rd or 4th AA. Hope she is not too upset, at least she hit her other events well. Sounds like she just wasn't quite ready to perform at her best level. I am always impressed with how she never falls on beam too!

  13. what is a hint of lemon myrtle?

    ReplyDelete
  14. 2 falls? very disapponting

    ReplyDelete
  15. well she had the opportunity but didn't capitalise so there's not much to be said really.

    ReplyDelete
  16. wow, the way things are going, we will be aiming for a wildcard position come 2012 olympics. Currently, i think Australia will be on par with the team from Bermuda. We better not finish last at commonwealth games :(.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I am just shocked that Peggy would put such a poorly prepared team out on the floor. We should not have people getting execution scores in the 5.0 range. I can't believe this is happening!

    ReplyDelete
  18. shona fell twice on beam! ouch

    ReplyDelete
  19. What is the qualifying competition for the Olympic Games 2012? Is it just one competition or a few?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Don't sound the death knell yet. The falls were unfortunate but she's still got 3 rotations to go!

I'll be interested to see how Larrissa goes, given that two Olympic and World Champ 'veterans' fumble.

    C'mon ShoMo!

  21. is larissa not competing one apparatus - just wondering why no results after rot 1

    ReplyDelete
  22. Shona is doing vault in rot 3, Larrissa bars in rot 4.

    ReplyDelete
  23. So Shona's not doing floor?

    ReplyDelete
  24. My bad. Got confused and thought she was doing AA. She's not. Just vault and beam, if the quick hit sites are to be believed.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Guys dont panic about 2012!georgia and shona have had a bad day so what!we know what their capable of!every time an aussie team screws up every1 is blaming peggy or shitting themselves.Unfortunately sometimes things dont go a teams way and cos we have little depth we sometimes have to use injured athletes. Were doing a good job gymnastics wise for a population our size.our team will bounce back and we still have loza tonight!GOOD LUCK

  35. It makes me so sad given she said she was so excited to show off her new vaults. She was a shoo-in for event finals too, and she has never made an event final before. I really just can't believe her bad luck.

    ReplyDelete
  36. what a horrible, gutless, mean spirited and of course anonymous comment, anon 11.55

    ReplyDelete

  38. Well put lovegym99.

I couldn't believe when I read the comment from anon 11.55. Perhaps its time for you to go to bed anon 11.55.

    ReplyDelete
  39. At least he/she apologised and cleared things up. I hope Shona's ok. Let's all send her our positive thoughts.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Thank you for posting back anon. We all sometimes post things that don't come out the way we intended. I appreciate you clearing that up. Good luck to all the girls, present and future.

  41. Only 1 UB competitor before Larrissa on the All around commentary. I hope she hits her routine.

    ReplyDelete
  42. super bars routine from Larrissa MILLER (AUS)from the FIG Live commentary

    ReplyDelete
  43. yay well done Larrissa! Thank you Jesus!

    ReplyDelete
  44. larissa highest score so far 14.65!amazing

    ReplyDelete
  45. honestly, I really needed that. I am so thrilled for her. So so thrilled. Even if she misses finals she knows that she went out in that huge arena at her first big meet and hit that routine cold. And that is what it is all about! I doubted her selection and let me tell you that I am eating my words. She has done us so proud.

    ReplyDelete
  46. OMG Love you Riss love mum

    ReplyDelete
  47. Miller (AUS) UB stalder 1/1 – Gienger, undershoot, good lines, stalder ½ - Jaeger, full in (stuck). Good.

    Yay!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Glad to see you eating your words, Nade. I kept telling you Larrissa was a great bar worker, but you wouldn't listen! The video you shot of her at Nationals was shot from the wrong angle. Seen from the side (the angle from which the judges view routines), she really is spectacular. She has the most astonishing lines. Glad to see they were rewarded properly today.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Hehe fair enough. I didn't think her routine would score as well as it did, so that has been a nice surprise.

I think it is just amazing for her to go out there the rotation after her teammate got stretchered off and hit it cold. AMAZING! She has come such a long way in a year.

    ReplyDelete
  50. She really has! What a champion! I had a feeling she might surprise us all actually since she is something of a blank slate, free from the pressure the others have probably placed on themselves and had placed on them by others. She is probably stoked just to be there and that wouldve served her well going into competition.
I hope she and Lauren continue to do well!
