They never do.They should as it is still an achievement to be selected as the reserve and it means so much to the girls.Where is Britt? I thought she was the Senior reserve.
I have a feeling Britt is injured. She didn't compete in VWHPC invite and only did a tiny bit of UB during the meet, and isn't even registered to compete in trial 1. I hope she will be ok for states and nationals.
Britt's back injury has flared up again. It was bad at camp and seems to have not improved. Peggy felt it would be better if she stayed home and rested it in preparation for trial 2/Vics.
Well surely the most reputable source of info is Georgia Wheeler herself, and she said that that's what she's hoping. So, instead of doubting her, why not just trust her opinion and see how things pan out.
I think Georgia will need that vault to make the team actually. I know she is the 'it' girl right now but once she is competing against the oldies like Ashleigh, Shona, Georgia B, Emma D and possibly also MaryAnne/Zoe/Sophie for spots it is going to be harder to make the team.
Her beam, floor and bars are still only worth very low 5s, so I'm not really sure where she will contribute to the team if she does not get a difficult vault. Georgia B competed a 5.9 BB at national clubs, Ashleigh had a 5.9 BB at VWHPC invite and is still improving, and we know Shona has 2 competitive vaults, a good beam and solid bars and floor.
Georgia can go as an UB specialist. she also mentioned in her interview she was working on toe 1/1 + tkatchev+overshoot and toe-tkatchev. If she has those skills ready by October then her UB DV will be up around 6.0, which would guarantee her a team final UB spot. Its an if, but its a possibility.
Really hope it's nothing bad, I was so excited to see her compete this season, and it would be so disappointing for her to have another season-ending injury.
Surely GA could have stretched to an Aussie leo for the poor reserve?
ReplyDeleteEmma looks so left out

ReplyDeleteI dunno, I think it is a huge milestone getting your first Aussie leo and it wouldn't have the same meaning if you weren't actually competing.
ReplyDeleteShe will get one for the Germany trip, which will be her first real time representing Australia.

ReplyDeleteNice interviews! I'd love to see Georgia get her pike front 1.5 on vault...I think she could do it!

ReplyDeleteThanks for the info about Britt. Best wishes to her for a speedy recovery!
ReplyDeleteGeorgia Wheeler also said on the GA chat she hopes to compete the DTY at commonwealths/worlds.
ReplyDeleteSeems we should be able to have a worlds team with 4 DTYs this year.
I'm not sure Georgia will have her DTY by Comm. games. She is still only training yurchenko layouts off the actual vault.
ReplyDeleteDidn't we read that she had DTYs onto a box/soft mat at the camp before the PacRim trial camp? Or am I thinking of one of the other girls?
ReplyDeleteShe was doing DTY into the pit from a soft box vault set up, not off the actual vault.
ReplyDeleteprofile updates on GA site for the pac rim girls
ReplyDeletegeorgia wheeler can do double twisting yurchenkos off the vault.
ReplyDeleteand fulls to the mat.
Oh really? Where has she been doing these? At camp or back at her home gym?

ReplyDeleteI saw Zoe in a boot today, does anyone know what has happened?
ReplyDeleteNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Worst news for ages!
