* Prashanth Sellathurai won(!) pommel at the Dityatin Cup; Pacific Rim medallist Luke Wiwatowski followed suit with a 1st place on floor and on P-bars. He also managed 3rd on high bar, closing out his best overseas performance yet. Elliott Cook placed 3rd on pommel behind Prashanth.
* Sport aerobics athlete and multiple international medallist Kieran Gorman won the Individual Male division at the FIG World Series event in italy.
Nice job, boys!
And, in other good news: After one season limited to bars and a second season competing just 3/4 events, look who's training vault!
Keep your eyes peeled when watching Channel 10 over the coming weeks, as Lauren Mitchell's Commonwealth Games commercial has gone to air (and been spotted by a few of you!)
Yay!
ReplyDeleteAwesome news, boys! Well done!

W.A state team has been selected makes interesting reading. (National levels)
ReplyDeleteLook out Australia, WA has a Level 10 TEAM!
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know why Emily Little is not going to nationals? Doesn't that mean she can't make the Commonwealths team?
ReplyDeleteThat is an interesting level 10 team - i take it Olivia is coming home to compete. Is Kayleigh Cooke done with Elite or is she just taking a break and maintaining her training. and Jade Martin too! good on them!
ReplyDeleteIt's exciting to have a team from WA - It's been a while. Nikki Smith has a lovely floor (I think she won floor at Nationals last year) and Eloise Valli is a nice gymnast too who did well last year in level 9. I love that some elites are coming back at Level 10 - It can only be good for the sport.
ReplyDeleteEmily is injured
ReplyDeleteOh no! Is it serious?

ReplyDeleteNo it doesn't mean Emily can't make the Commonwealth team. The selection policy outlines the process in article 5 of Part A - General "Special consideration" on the GA website.
Can someone please clarify when the CWG and worlds team are going to be selected. I was reading on the WWGym forum that CWG is selected at nationals and worlds in camp in Setember. I was wondering if this was the case. Considering nationals is three months before CWG it seems a bit strange because a lot can happen in a few months.
ReplyDeleteCommonwealths IS chosen at nationals but of course they have petition clauses for athletes who can't compete at nationals. However nationals is certainly the only trial for the team, there is no extra camp trial or anything later on.
ReplyDeleteFor worlds, nationals is the first trial, then they pick a squad of 12 (which includes injured athletes that petition in) to compete at the second trial at camp in September. Then they trim that down to 6 + 1 reserve after the second trial.
Looking at our list we have 21 girls. Top seniors should have no issues getting to the second worlds trial but some seniors will miss out.
Waverley x 3
WAIS x 3
VWHPC x 5
QAS x 3
AIS x 1
MLC x 2
MBC x 1
SA x 3
12 isn't many. I would pick
ReplyDeleteMiller
Mitchell
Morgan
Bonora
Dennis
Greeley
Little
Wheeler
Monckton
Lorenzin (know she won't be at nationals, but will she be ready in September?)
Brennan
Russell
For 3 reserves:
Budack (though if she gets her yurchenko double she will definitely be in)
Coley
Brooks/Beattie/Turko/Simpson
I would say Budack would be in. I would reserve judgement on Monckton and Lorenzin. They have both been injured for so long. I can't remember the last time I have seen Lorenzin compete, was she at National Clubs last year? Did Monckton only do bars recently or did she compete other apparatus.
ReplyDeleteBudack I think will get her yurchenko double by then.
I hope Dennis gets in this time as she is a beautiful gymnast.
ReplyDeleteWhich seniors are currently injured?
ReplyDeleteI think this would be a great team for Com Games:
ReplyDeleteMicthell
Bonora
Little
Morgan
Brennan
Miller Bars
Dennis Reserve
If Emma wants selection she is going to have to pick up those D scores
ReplyDeleteOnly five gymnasts go to CWG, six to worlds
