“Last night was a success, not only because she won the medals, but it was a statement that she’s a true professional, that she loves her gymnastics and when she goes out she can back herself up.
“Keep that history book open, just love the achievements that we’re making at the moment.”
Some videos from the event are going up at this account, something of Lauren's may crop up if you keep your eyes peeled.
There is also a routine report up at The Couch Gymnast.
In other quite cool news, Loz's triple wolf turn has been submitted to the FIG for recognition in the Code of Points (and thus to be named after her).
She was mentioned in the Sydney Morning Herald, which also noted:
Following a brief training stint with the Romanian gymnastics team this week, Mitchell will journey to Glasgow to compete in the final world cup event of the year from November 18 to 21, followed by the renowned Toyota Cup in Japan from December 10 to 12.
Lauren we are so proud of you.
Personally, I hear an American Cup invite calling...
(ETA: Thanks to Nade for the heads-up... NEW LEO!)

The Aussies should be happy they didn't make it into this one.
Was a triple horizontal turn in the code of points?
ReplyDeleteThat was brillant Nade. Thankyou. I haven't laughed like that for ages. The music, oh my some of the dances moves and even the animals who made an appearance cracked me up. That was priceless.
ReplyDeletefinally a new leo too!

Congratulations Lauren
ReplyDeleteIsn't the triple wolf turn named after Terin Humphrey of the USA?
ReplyDeleteHumphrey did a 2.5, she drops her leg down during the last half so she never made a triple. The leg needs to be at horizontal throughout. If you look at Lauren's turn you can see she doesn't touch the beam until she has made all three turns and then she drops her leg.
ReplyDeleteAt 9 seconds she drops her leg after 2.5 turns

Not that it really matters as both are rated E skills. FIG doesn't credit dance elements above an E, same as non release skills on UB.
Well done Lauren, especially for winning bars.
ReplyDeletebelated CONGRATS to Lauren! And what a different and stunningly beautiful new leo!
ReplyDeleteIsn't the American Cup format different next year? I didn't think it was going to be invite only anymore but either way I think Lauren should definitely be there!
ReplyDeleteLauren will be able to attend and World Cup meet she wants next by virtue of her ebing top 8 in AA BB and FX at worlds last year.
