(Indigo Dragon!? AWESOME.)
(Indigo Dragon!? AWESOME.)
Thanks for posting the MG squads. I doubt they'll generate much discussion!!! ;P
ReplyDeleteDidn't notice at first glance the bit at the bottom Mez where you've put some punctuation to Indigo Dragon's name ... He's as cool as his name - and I'm not his mum or from his club!!! He's a great kid. Keep up the hardwork Indigo - a place in the team ( rather than as an individual) is there for you next year. Go the QLD boys. Sadly missing though is the name of Kurt Benson from SA. Don't give up ;)
ReplyDeleteLooked again ... Not your fault as it's on GA's site ... Finlay Kroon is now QLD - another fantastic young gymnast from the level 6 QLD boys - they all put up a tremendous effort at Nationals. A real credit to themselves, their coaches and their clubs. ;)
ReplyDeleteWell done boys! Great to see some WA boys on the list!
ReplyDeleteThe Qld teams were on fire like they were last year. Go qld
ReplyDeleteI would love to see more discussion from the MAG gymnasts and parents but they probably don't realise that the site exists. Well done to the Sean, Qld coach who had to take over the boys QAS program following Trents departure earlier this year.
Great to see that Gabriel O'Sullivan WA was named in the National under 14 squad. Hope he makes a full and strong recovery from his current injury concern. ;)
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Outstanding young man and a terrific gymnast too. Go Gabe!
ReplyDeleteSo Naoya Tsukahara is now officially representing Australia? Cool.
ReplyDeleteYes he is and don't we need him. Hopefully he will help the Aussies get a team into the Olympics. Only a slim chance but at least there is a chance now.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pleasure it is to read the posts about our Aussie male gymnasts. Postiive and encouraging.
ReplyDeletewhat happens if Aussies miss out as a team but Tsukuhara gets an individual place? Wouldn't that be a little unfair on Sellathurai/Rizzo/Jefferis/Pichler/Wiwatowski et al?
ReplyDeleteI think the boys would be quite disappointed not to at least qualify two places to the Games.
ReplyDeleteNot sure how it works, but I believe there is also some way that the apparatus finals medalists can qualify now, so if Prashanth hits again he should be fine to go.
Judging by how our guys looked when they were peaking at CWG last year, I'm really really hopeful that we may at least qualify a team to next year's team qualifying (teams 9-16 I think fighting for places 9-12 at the Games).
Tsukuhara has trained at the QAS for a couple of years now and deserves the opportunity to compete. Just because he did not have a visa, doesn't mean he hasn't been training with the others and working just as hard. We are extremely lucky to have him on the Australian team.
ReplyDeleteWow I saw Adrian Looney on level 9 open team...
ReplyDeleteWasnt he on the Olympic squad some years ago.. whats everyone's opinions?
And thats great that Tsukuhara is competing for Australia!
Its good to finally see some discussion about MG for a change
Adrian is going on the open levels tour to NZ -As a COACH!!! No comeback - unless you have heard different ??? Was up at Maroochy for a comp earlier in the year. From a small community gym he's coaching up his senior group to perform very well. His background of elite certainly pays off with the boys.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to all the WA Under 12 and Under 14 teams for selection in the National Squads including the injured Gabe O'Sullivan and Sean Forde - both on the road to recovery
ReplyDeleteHaha! Gabriel..funny kid. Has a lot talent and potential that kid. good luck!
ReplyDeleteHe sure is! One of a kind. If he was my son, I would be VERY proud. Heck, I he isn't my son and I am very proud of him anyway!
ReplyDeleteDitto Gabe!!! Can't talk this young man up enough. If all our gymnasts could harness even a little of his focus and determination towards their skill development our MG would be in a very healthy and upward state. He us also so very well supported by his family. They understand and have accepted his chosen sport. GO GABE !!! May your injury woes be resolved and we see you achieve great things next year and beyond ;)
