What I can tell you is that Emily Little is in 4th overall as an individual after day 1; though each female gymnast is paired with a male gymnast and they can win a pairs title as well. Emily is paired with Santiago Lopez of Mexico as well as Sergey Khorkhordin (due to less female than male gymnasts taking part). With Lopez she is sitting in 7th but with Khorkhordin she's in 3rd!
Her scores for the two apparatus competed so far are
VT 13.950 (Yurchenko full only)
UB 5.3/13.350
Footage of her bars routine is below, and you can see a shot of her and Martine training bars on the event's webpage photo gallery.
Like their Facebook page for more photos, videos and results.
Day 2:
MORE OF THIS STUNNING LEO, PLZTHNX!!!
Emily finished in 4th all-around, just a smiiiiiiiiidgen away from the bronze medal position with 54.9 Beam score was 14.25 and floor was 13.35.
Gymnastics Australia have more lovely candid shots and a summary here. Apparently an earthquake hit during the competition... if Em can handle competing after that, then anything 2012 can throw at her will be a cakewalk!
Her beam routine is below.

Em and Sergey finished 3rd as a pair.
Finally, to cap off an exciting competition, Emily also performed an aboriginal-inspired Australian cultural beam and dance routine, as part of a televised gala that all gymnasts were invited to participate in.
You can see footage of the routine below.
Go Emily :)
ReplyDeleteCompletely off topic, but I hate it when people upload videos to YouTube in the wrong aspect ratio. This routine (and many others) would look so much better in the right aspect ratio...
ReplyDeleteLittle really needs to work on the bent arms in the casts to handstand. Those are deductions she shouldn't be taking at this level.
and the archy back on her casts ... that set was very laboured in general I thought
ReplyDeleteWhere did Emily finish. They I found the top 3 Afan one by four points.
ReplyDeleteWon
ReplyDeleteCompletely irrelevant, but look at ebay! The homepage is surrounded by Lauren's visa ad :)
ReplyDeletewww.ebay.com.au
Emily finished 4th by a very small margin.
ReplyDelete1. Ksenia Afanaseva, RUS, 58.15
ReplyDelete2. Christine Lee, CAN, 55.5
3. Mai Yamagishi, JPN, 55.0
4. Emily Little, AUS, 54.9
5. Yessenia Estrada, MEX, 52.6
6. Mikaela Gerber, CAN, 52.15
7. Catalina Escobar, ARG, 51.2
VWHPC is advertising a full time IDP 6-10 position. Good they are getting more coaches, but they really need the extras up at junior/senior. Did Nadia, Tatiana or Max get promoted to coach the JNR/SNR squads and they are now trying to fill the hole left?
ReplyDeleteI think you may find this is a replacement in the IDP area for a coach who is leaving and not to replace a promotion.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Emily after terrific results in Mexico, and a wonderful effort in Tokyo, often having the uneviable responsibility of being first up on each apparatus to provide a solid leadoff score for the team.
ReplyDeleteWhere in Nadia heading? National clubs results might provide a clue - which club has proved that excellent administration coupled with expertly lead coaching teams providing consistent and high levels of expertise and coaching effort at each of the IDP levels can produce good results?? The depth of these results is evidence of this fanastic and continuing success!
Apparently Max is leaving at the end of January to pursue other career opportunities???
ReplyDeleteGreat to see Peggy judging in Mexico.
ReplyDeleteSlightly off topic, this footage is an example of something I have noticed for a while.
ReplyDeleteWatch the judges, the judge third from the right manages to keep her eyes on the gymnast whilst judging. (and looks a little like Peggy too which is a little disconcerting!)
The judge third from the left does as well (but I suspect she is the secretary as she makes no attempt to make notes during the performance)
Without exception, every other judge looks down during the performance on several, if not many, occasions. One, manages to do this after every single skill!
Now, maybe I missed something but I was of the belief that all judges needed to be able to complete STC and deductions without loosing sight of the gymnast. This ensures the entire exercise is judged, all errors are noted. Surely some is missed during the time taken to look down.
Does anyone else see this as a real problem in judging today?
Ha, funny! On a second look, it is Peggy.
ReplyDeleteWell done her for being the only competent judge!
Nadia is going to QAS?
ReplyDeleteAlso, has anyone heard about the national team coach position after 2012. Is Peggy still thinking of returning to the US?
I heard there is another international coach coming to the HPC
ReplyDeletewho? Kaladzinski? or someone from ouside Aus?
ReplyDeleteI heard it was a male coach, which is what they need in the IDP area. Maybe nadia didn't get the results she should have in her position
ReplyDeleteAs a fellow Australian I am soooo PROUD of you Emily Little. Since camp before Japan worlds you have spent very little time in Perth with very short rest time to recoop mentaly or physicaly. You should be very proud of your self. Once again you have put yourself out there and did what was asked of you. Even performing straight after an earthquake. WELL DONE and I am hoping to see more and better things from you.
ReplyDeleteThe add for the VicHPC doesn't even close until January so I doubt the position has been filled yet
ReplyDeleteNadia is not going to QAS
ReplyDeleteI heard Jasminne has left MBC. Is that true?
ReplyDeleteGUYS. I have said this countless times.
ReplyDeletePlease refrain from discussing things like club movements or retirements, especially when unofficially announced anywhere and ESPECIALLY when prefaced with "I heard".
Interesting to see that Gymnastics Australia has published the results of the Champion Club for the NDP and IDP divisions of the 2011 National Club Championship nearly 2 weeks after the event has concluded.
ReplyDeleteAlso interesting to see the VWHPC listed as a club whereas the other state sponsored programs apart from SA listing their gymnasts as belonging to their club of origin and usually not figuring in the team competition.
Last year a similar announcement was made during the presentations only to have the results adjusted later taking the VWHPC out.
It was interesting to hear the confused audience reaction during this year's presentation.
Is the VWHPC a registered club with Gymnastics Australia and if so why aren't the other state programs also registered with their gymnasts competing under their?
Some consistency in policy would be helpful.
also off topic but i LOVE emilys leo!
ReplyDeleteMez, I am pretty sure that is a Wais leotard that you like. So you are likely to see again, just not on the Australian team.
ReplyDeleteAnon 11:02pm. Nadia is a fantastic coach and if she is moving on I hope they utilse her as she has a wealth of knowledge. HPC never gave her the recognition she deserved.
ReplyDeleteAnon 12:39 PM - correct that is a WAIS leo. They wore it at nationals and at national clubs. Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteAnon 1:15pm you seem to know quite a lot about the HPC situation, are you a coach
ReplyDeleteYes Jazminne has left MBC
ReplyDeletewhere is she now?
ReplyDeleteIf Jazminne has left MBC that only leaves Amaya and Georgia Godwin in the IDP. Maybe they are all moving to QAS. How can they financially keep Olga and Sacha for two gymnasts. Something is going on.
ReplyDeleteIs Jazminne training at Westfield Gym ?
ReplyDeleteOff the topic does anyone know what happened to Brittany Boffo she seems to have dissapeared.
ReplyDeleteBrittany Boffo is returning from injury. She might be competing again next year.
ReplyDeleteAnyone else noticed that the nominative roster for the London test event lists Georgia Simpson and Emily Little? Can't wait to see Georgia.
ReplyDeleteNo Rumanian or USA women competing???
ReplyDeleteNOMINATIVE.
ReplyDeleteCan you please post the list
ReplyDeleteThe list can be found at gymnastics examiner, only four of the qualified have nominative entries in wag. I thought USA or Romania might send some new seniors to gain experience. It looks like Russia is planning on sending Grishina and Sidorova. glad Georgia Simpson is going I thought they might send someone else instead of Emily. She is doing well in competitions but surely all this traveling is hard on her. I guess her coaches know best and she may not end up going.
ReplyDeleteEmily must not be planning on doing PAC Rim as the trial is on about then. Wonder they are going to send.
ReplyDeleteLauren article:
ReplyDeletehttp://news.brisbanetimes.com.au/breaking-news-sport/lauren-mitchell-focused-on-gym-gold-20111214-1ouo2.html
What trials for PAC Rim? Hasn't the team already
ReplyDeletebeen selected? Well according to Brennan it has.
The trial would be just for appearance. Surely Emily
wouldn't need to trial. But she may be to exhausted
by then.
I think they always trial for these things. Probably at camp. We have already established the article that said Brennan was a sure thing for the 2012 PacRim team made a mistake and just assumed she was on it even though she likely meant that she was aiming for thy competition and the journalist just interpreted it the wrong way.
ReplyDeleteooh yeh thank you anon @ 3:41
ReplyDeletethis page needs a like button
Who do you hope will be on the Pac Rim team? These are who I hope will be selected:
ReplyDeleteAsh
GRB
Lauren
Alex
Georgia G
Maddi
I would think the more experienced senior girls would prefer the experience of the Olympic Test Event rather than Pac Rim anyway. For the younger ones, the team competition against the top teams like Russia, China and the USA would be a huge learning curve but Little has already done that, and Simpson has gotten a taste of it as well.
ReplyDeleteWhen did Simpson get a taste? Podium training at worlds?
ReplyDeleteI don't mind I just hope that Simpson gets selected for a comp where her routines will be shown on TV or uploaded to Youtube. Pretty gym deserves attention! I would also like the same for Zoe L. As for juniors at Pacrim, I would love to see Celeste Loo or Aimee Warnock but I know they will not be chosen over Georgia G, Alex or Maddi.
ReplyDeleteHow old is Georgia Ruehlemann? She is another one looking very nice indeed.
Not really relevant but on gymnastic coaching there is a YouTube video that shows hitlers reaction to no Americans being sent to the test event.
ReplyDelete??? Link?
ReplyDeleteHttp://gymnastics coaching.com/news. Scroll down bait until you get to Hitler not happy with Marta
ReplyDeleteI would imagine that they send the seniors with lesser experience to Pac Rim. It seems to be what they did in 2010.
ReplyDeleteAny news from the GA WG Olympic Squad Training camp in Canberra???
ReplyDeleteAnon 9:52 are you talking about the US? In 2010 they sent Bross, Sloan and Raisman to Pac Rim. Raisman probably wasn't experienced but Sloan and Bross were not really inexperienced at that point in time, I actually think they sent their best available seniors in 2010.
ReplyDeleteany news from camp yet? who is going to London for the test event?
ReplyDeleteThomas Pichler and Sam Offord are going to the test. Josh Jeffris missed out but is going as reserve.
ReplyDeleteTrials for Pac Rim will be in January
ReplyDeleteNo, the Australians sent lesser experienced girls.
ReplyDeleteWeren't a lot of the more experience Australian girls Lauren, Shona & Georgia all injured for Pac RIm in 2010 or recovering from injury. Lauren has fractured her hand, georgia b had had another ankle surgery after 09 worlds and shona was recovering from her knee injury, Ashleigh also was no where near ready. Australia does seem to send there best available girls to Pac RIm. I think it was the way it worked out in 2010 that Australia sent less experienced gymnasts to Pac Rim. In saying that it would be good if they sent girls who need experience next year.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. They sent the best available seniors and juniors. I hope they do again.
ReplyDeleteI think Aus will send their best girls, especially when the other countries are sending their best. The chance to compete against these girls before the Olympics is to big to miss.
ReplyDeleteI think the teams have been pretty much decided. Peggy is probably waiting to see if the girls get injured or are recovered from injuries in time.
Who do you think the team will be.
Maybe: Lauren, Georgia RB, Georgia S (I hope), or Emily
ReplyDeleteJuniors: Alex, maddi and either jasmine or Georgia
This is really just a guess. MAM seems to be a favourite so perhaps her instead of Emily/Georgia. It might be an opportunity to get in front of the international judges if she has fixed whatever had her score so low at worlds.
Like to see jasmine and georgia for the juniors, they are both great gymnasts and deserve to be selected.
ReplyDeleteSurely there is more than 4 juniors to select from!!!
ReplyDeleteI think surely Georgia G and Maddie L would be certs for the juniors but definately not sure bout Jazminne after Japan and not sure if Alex E has the ability or skill level to compete
ReplyDeleteWTF! Where did that NASTY Alex comMent come from?? Did she not just place first at Nat Clubs?
ReplyDeleteHave you seen her in training latley/Camp?
Even if Georgia was not at Clubs to compare surely Alex is still ranked 1st or 2nd?
Anon at 11:07 your "not sure" opinion is hardly supportable, maybe some current D and E scores might help your case! We don't select teams on the basis of "not sure".
ReplyDeleteAnon 1220, you make out as if you are a selector or something, maybe from your lounge chair, but being realistic Georgia G only had 3 aparatus at Nationals and still won, so please explain. And when you talk about National clubs, it was a mickey mouse event that no-one attended, not really a comp to base international selection on is it???
ReplyDeleteGeorgia Godwin did all 4 apparatus at nationals
ReplyDeleteGeorgia only won Natonals by .3. She came third on 2nd day. I call that pretty close.
ReplyDeleteAs for National clubs as least the girls who went have shown that they are competition ready. They at least stood up to be counted.
Do you even know who is injured at the moment. Most of the girls (including Georgia) who didn't go to National clubs was because they were injured.
This may put some doubt onto who is selected.
Whether you win by .3 or 3.00 it's all the same and as for being competition ready from what I saw at camp all girls are healthy. Would be interesting to see a full comp now because I know who I'd have my money on.
ReplyDeleteSo who do you have your money on.
ReplyDeleteanon at 6:04, can you give us some information about the camp if you were there please? I know a lot of people would appreciate it. Especially on Zoe Lorenzin, Georgia Simpson and Katie Wurth would be fantastic because we so rarely hear about their progress. I presume Sims wasn't there? Any prospects for vaulting in London? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reassurance Anon at
ReplyDelete6:04,it seems we are in for another good year beginning with the Pacific Alliance.
On quite another and probably not unexpected tack, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone, thanks for sharing your news and views throughout the year!!! Sometimes annoying, often informative but always entertaining.
I think Alex,Georgia and Maddi will be the obvious picks (in that order) If one of them becomes injured Jazmin will get the spot.
ReplyDeleteDon't know about all girls being healthy? Isn't
ReplyDeleteMAM back in a boot!
