"The Test event will serve as the second and final qualifier for both MG and TRP. Australia aims to achieve one country spot on both of these divisions.
The Australian WG team qualified for the 2012 Games at the 2011 World Championships and will be using the event as a preparation event leading into 2012.The MG team will be travelling to Waveney Gymnastics Club, for a week of training starting on December 27th before heading to London on January 7th. The TRP team will depart on Australia on January 5th, to spend 3 days training at Northampton Trampoline Gymnastics Academy prior to the event."
Can't wait to see routines from Georgia Simpson :) Thanks for the update
ReplyDeleteWe do have other gymnasts beside Emily Little...
ReplyDeleteI know, I don't get that choice at all....even if they wanted a WAIS delegation, Nikki Chung would be far more logical.
ReplyDeleteThere will be plenty of opportunites this year. Maybe these were the two most ready. There is Pacrim just coming up. You will find that there is probably different girls going to this comp.
ReplyDeleteNo way is Georgia ready for this comp. from my reckoning it's the convenience of 2 girls from the same program.
ReplyDeleteHow the hell do you know if she is ready?
ReplyDeleteHey, December 26 8:58pm: Do you have a gymnast that is better prepared to attend the test event? Yet another ignorant statement from another ignorant troll. Keep your inconsiderate, uninformed diatribe to yourself, nobody is interested. This board could have been used by you to wish the two gymnasts the best of luck, but no: you have to crawl out from underneath the rock in which you live, to spout off negativity. The tall poppy syndrome at it's finest. I think that Peggy knows what she is doing in the selection of who attends what competition, so leave the gymnastics to those who are the experts. Clearly, you are not one of those.
ReplyDeleteTo 8:58pm - No need to be so defensive and so rude. It's comments like yours that drive people (including me) away from this blog. You really should respect everyone's opinion, even if you don't necessarily agree.
ReplyDeleteHow is it that you think that anon at 8.58 is uninformed?! I hope that GS is ready but from camp I think she needs more time too.
ReplyDeleteApologies - last post was meant to be directed to 9:22!
ReplyDeletePerhaps selectors were so impressed with emilys efforts in Mexico they decided to send her to London too? Nothing wrong with that if she has earnt it and is fit and ready. It may also be good for her rep going into the Olympics - the more she competes at big comps the more recognisable her face, name and gymnastics is to the judges. I think thats a good thing.
ReplyDeleteBrinds
if people are going to be continually referring cryptically to 'camp' in justifying their opinions would they care to share some of the information they have? Everybody comes here in search for information on the progress on the girls and it is kind of frustrating when people are told their opinions are wrong but you don't care to elaborate in any way.
ReplyDeleteIt is not in the spirit of these kinds of fan communities that emphasise sharing to inform everyone that you know what went on at camp only to then refuse to disclose anything, even anonymously. It's not like we are talking about state secrets here people!
If others were well-informed then all these purely speculative and inaccurate comments would disappear. Something to think about.
I think part of the problem is that people who go to camp can't say too much on these sites!
ReplyDeleteI'm getting worried that Emily is going to get burnt out or injured just before the Olympics (similar to what happened with Dasha), by attending so many overseas competitions. I hope she's being well paced. I guess it's a matter of trying to find that balance between accrueing international competition exposure and over-doing it. Tough call, and I am very glad I'm not one of the selectors having to make these crucial decisions!
ReplyDeleteDasha wasn't so much burnt out as injured. She landed awkwardly at camp and further injured her ankle during the qualification round at the Olympics. She was looking the best she ever had at nationals except for on vault where a finger injury had hampered her training.
ReplyDeleteEmily is coming off of a long lay off and her coaches/Peggy may feel that her fitness is good but she's still rusty from a long lay off.
I agree with your comment about Dasha, it was just a really unfortunate injury. I am not sure about Emily having a long layoff I now she didn't compete much in the first half of this year but she then competed at worlds, Stuttgart, massilia and in Mexico I don 't think lack of competition is a problem for her and she performed well everywhere she competed. In saying that the coaches see Emily as a very reliable performer and she always gives a good account of herself. She must have earnt the selection so good luck to her. Really looking forward to seeing Georgia S too.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone here watched georgia train?
ReplyDeleteI have seen videos from 2010 and this years nationals, she seems very messy and just chucking hard skills
Please tell me she is not normally like this and she has improved lots!
To anon Dec 26 10.12pm. You were obviously at camp, so you would also know who would be ready instead of GS. Perhaps GRB with a sore back and broken toe or MAM in a boot or AB who cant do AA or GB who I had heard had more surgery? These girls will have thier opportunity again .Perhaps they need time to re group after coming back from some intense comps .All girls deserve a chance when they are able to. How many girls competed this year who were not perhaps 100%. Give every one a chance to have the valuable experience needed to be ready for Olympic trials.
ReplyDeleteWait.. wrong gymnast sorry
ReplyDeletei cant find any videos of her
Where have you seen GS on video's..none around of her.She certainly is not "messy" as you put it..she is too much of a perfectionist for that. Are you sure your not mixing up the Georgia's? perhaps you are meaning GW ? She also did not compete at Nationals this year !!so you could not have seen her on a video from there.
ReplyDeleteI just appoligised 6 minutes before your comment
ReplyDeleteyes gw was who i was watching
it was a mistake
Whats skills does gs do anyway?
Some video snippets of GSim in here:

(0:35, 1:02 -oversplit to die for-, 1:18)
anon 8:41could'nt find the video, when was it from?
ReplyDeleteif you guys have Foxtel keep your eye on the guide to see if they replay Tokyo World Cup (day 1) on Fox Sports. It was on this morning and showed all routines of GRB and MAM. MAM added a front aerial + sheep jump combo so presumably she's now going for a 6.1 on beam (she was credited with 6.0 in Japan with a pause after the aerial).
ReplyDeleteIs there any reason that there is only one male tramp gymnast and no female gymnast heading to the trial event. I am not sure of the rules for the event, but assumed that male and female tramp gymnast would go, as is with the WG and MG.
ReplyDeleteAnon 8.25pm
ReplyDeletePlaces for the TRP trial/test event were decided based on World Championship 2011 results (same as MAG and WAG). Blake won Australua a spot in the men's event, however unfortunately we didn't get a spot for the women's event, thus no female athlete is going.
Anon 9.43pm
ReplyDeleteThank you for the clarification
