  1. did lutayenko leave gymjets? A lot of their girls seem to be in levels now...

  2. Any news on WA State? Who made Nationals?

    ReplyDelete
  3. All WA seniors were already qualified from international comps and did not compete states. I believe Olivia has to qualify by video but I'd be surprised if she will have a problem.

  4. All the wa teams have been named, if you want to know who, it is on their website go to the state team tab and scroll down to gymsport specific info, go to WAG and just above where it says trans bass challenge it has intl and national team lists for nationals 2012.

  5. Thankyou above for that. As this list was compiled in April did any of the girls with * pending qualify? Doesn't seem like many girls have qualified from all states in junior and below! Numbers would be low for Nationals or do they go anyway?

  6. I am not sure about the *girls and if they qualified, probably best to check with someone from WA I am from QLD :), I spose if you added approx 6 each level (i know some states don't have full teams) that is approx 48 per level.)

  7. All the national level girls are qualified. Usually most of the * IDP girls end up qualifying as the coaches don't enter them if they have no chance. I think all of the 8's qualified by the end of the autumn challenge and a couple of the 6's - you can check the results at GWA. Generally anyone who was close to qualifying then (above 4.8 on the apparatus they didn't qualify on) will have by now. I don't think you can work out the 10's and above from the results because of CR which aren't shown, but the numbers are low there anyway. I agree it looks like numbers might be low with the biggest change in SA who won IDP 8 last year and now look like they only have 2 elite stream girls trialling (both IDP 8 and only competed 2 apparatus each at the first trial). Is Gymjets still running?

  8. The state of qld idp gymnastics is pathetic! What we have 2 idp 6, 1 idp8 and 2 idp 10 gymnasts qualified for nationals. Something is seriously wrong in a state where there is heaps of really talented girls but there is no incentives for them to do ipd and all of the hours that come with it. So many girls choose to stay with national level. Is this the case in other states too?

  9. It looks like Olivia's qualification videos are here: http://www.youtube.com/user/viviano101

  10. From the published results of each state going on the minimum E score they need to qualify for Nationals there will be JNR Vic 2, NSW 1, Total 3 girls, IDP 10 Vic 2? NSW 1 QLD 2?,WA 1, Total 5 girls. IDP8 Vic 3 NSW 1 QLD 1 WA 6 Total 11, Will that really be it?

  11. Program's have formal practice comps with judges for qualification so there will be a few more in each level

  12. Well there is now 3 qualified for IDP 10 from QLD and 3 juniors from QLD so I don't think the stats are completely accurate above.

  13. Based on Olivia's videos, I think she is just back to assist in making a team at nationals. She isn't a serious Olympic contender for a few reasons.

Her fitness looks questionable. Both beam and floor routines were 2min.
Her D scores aren't that flash and she has considerable deductions to boot.
    (Bars - 5.5, beam 5.3 - 5.5 if she can get the turn paid, floor - 5.0)

Additionally, the bars didn't look like FIG settings and she had difficulty with this last time.

  14. Mariia Lutayenko is currently coaching IDP at Castle Hill RSL www.chrslgymnastics.com.au/coaches. I presume her father is still at GymJets, SA.

  15. I would be surprised if Olivia made the team. She was only ever a bars specialist. Larrissa can now fill that role and also has a good floor.

  16. Is there a bulletin 3 for nationals yet?

  17. Unrelated but can anyone tell me where the draft IDP regulations, routines and bonuses can be found foe 2013? I was at State Titles the other day watching an IDP 6 routine and the girls were doing two clear hips to handstand in a row. This is the first time I had seen this and I was told they are now bonus. I would like to read the bonuses for all IDP routines but I can't find them anywhere. Can anyone help me please?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Bonuses would be listed in the IDP manual

    ReplyDelete
  19. Two clear hips for IDP 6 is not bonus, it is now required.

I have not seen any draft rule and regulations for 2013. Generally that sort of thing wouldn't come out until after the coaching forum at Nationals.

  20. Thanks 10.43. When did this change come in and where are the changes written? I didn't think they could just change the routines like that until the 2013 rules aremintroduced. Are there any changes to IDP 5 or IDP 8 or have there been any bonuses added in. Thanks for your help 10.43.

  21. Changes in the IDP program are on the GA website in the technical information section.

    ReplyDelete
  22. There have been no changes to IDP 5 for this year as far as I'm aware.

IDP 8 has had quite a few changes, the main one being that day 1 of comeptition at Nationals will be only base routines, no extra skills allowed. Day 2 is free for all, add in what you like. They have also introduced the changes for vault that have been discussed - day 1 Yurchenko tuke, pike or layout are all score from 6.0 D Score, Day 2 is double the FIG Code of Points value (so it is even with other apparatus on both days).

As the IDP program is determined by GA they can change it whenever they see fit. It has continually been amended here and there to try and make it the best program to develop our gymnasts to a good international standard. The 2013 changes you are thinking of are the Code of Points changes, which will be implemented by the FIG.

  23. Appreciate the information. The code sometimes seems double dutch. Being able to get the occasional answer from someone with knowledge is fabulous.

  24. Do the IDP girls do compulsory routines, as well as optionals, like they do in the USA? I actually miss the compulsory component to the WAG olympic competition, even if hearing the same floor music a hundred times did my head in!

    ReplyDelete
  25. If i'm not mistaken, all the IDP levels up to and including IDP8 do ONLY compulsory routines... with IDP 8 allowed to perform some specfic bonus "extras".

Now it seems that according to an earlier post that IDP 6 has some bonus skills allowable... so maybe there are some bonuses available for the earlier levels too. I'm not sure.

The change seems to be that they are making the IDP 8 girls do ONLY the basic compulsory routines without bonuses on day 1... and then allowing the bonuses come in on day 2. Sounds like it would add some interest to the competition.

I suppose it means, on day 1 you are comparing apples with apples and looking at the execution mainly... day 2 will show those that have some higher / different skills.

But no optional routines until IDP10

  28. Imogen Dixon-Smithers (NSW IDP6) is a very elegant gymnast. I could watch her all day. :-)

  29. I was about to ask about Epping. Did they have lots of girls leave the IDP program, or just have a really hard time getting the necessary scores?

I know it took a couple of comps for NSW to get that many on their team!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Epping IDP: I think some have dropped out/left and others are injured? We have a great new head coach (Darren Webster) and a solid team of other IDP coaches, so things are looking up.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Darren was filling in at QAS about 2 years ago and they would not give him the head coach job. They chose Irena and Vlad over him. I thought he was okay though.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Thanks, anon @ 12.23. I don't know anything about Darren (never heard of him infact!), and from last memory, Epping had a high % Chinese IDP coaches. I'm imagining that he must subscribe to that method of coaching, or was there are a shift that has happened as of late?

  33. While I don't wholly subscribe to this 'board', I would hope that comments are made from a position of fact and not supposition. The comment I am referring to is anonymous at 6.01pm - please have the decency to have your facts checked before posting them in a public forum about a person that you most likely haven't met or don't have intimate details about, not to mention the situation you are referring to.
    Thank you.
