Am having difficulty finding a feed but will update you when I do.

Apparently Lauren's warm-ups are looking good, she appears to be working extremely hard (especially on her beam series). Live updates from the arena are coming from The Gymnastics Examiner, see the link above.

Best shot so far is the ten-minutes delayed Georgian television feed here: http://tvali.ge/index.php?action=sat&channel=70955

Do I hear any advance on Georgian television?

11:29 looks like the men's vault final is over, bring on the women!

BB: Loz up after Sacramone. 11:33 AEDST They've marched in!
11:39 Right. Here goes. Reports say: SHE HIT THE LAYOUT!

Mitchell (AUS) : her mount, flic – flic – layout to 2 feet, split – wolf jump, 3/1 cossak turn, switch leap ½ (wobble) – back tuck, free aerial – switch leap – front somi, switch ring leap (step), ff – ff – double pike off (hop fwd).

"A huge smile and a little skip as she leaves the podium" = Awwww!

D: 6.6; E: 8.600; 15.200 into first place for now!

EDIT: After some very strong performances, Lauren finishes outside of the medals in 4th place. Her 15.200 was a fantastic score (her best of the competition I believe?) and proof she can hit when it counts. Onya Loz! Good luck for floor.

Veetle feed is up! Currently doing a beam wrap-up (on slight delay I think). I think it's the BBC feed!

http://www.veetle.com/index.php/channel/view#4caf5326c8e9a great quality footage and information from Tweddle/Smith on each event.

FX: Up last, hope she can control her nerves. It has been a HUGE three weeks for her.

24:55 AEDST they've marched in but we're not seeing the intros. Beth gives a shout-out to Lauren as a medal chance.

Loz in the crimson/black 2009 Worlds prelim leo. Here goes...

HITS the arabiab stag! Big hope back on piked full in wolf turn a tad messy AWESOME 2.5 to layout. Hops back on double pike but WOWZERS great job.

Waves to the team she can hear in the stands.

And...

  1. about Lauren's warmup from gym examiner:

The floor warmup is over, but people are still working hard on beam, especially Mitchell, who has done her flight series a few times now. She's having a few little problems with it, but it looks more like she's fine-tuning than anything else. She just needs to let it happen.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Yay Lauren - Go Girl!!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Is anyone actually watching this anywhere?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Nup, doing it all sans visuals!

    ReplyDelete
  40. That makes me upset - how could she JUST score a tiny bit above Mitchell! Bias?

    ReplyDelete
  41. oh god, now she's in third

    ReplyDelete
  42. she's out of the medals, so disappointed

    ReplyDelete
  43. hmm, don't think being second up has helped her. The scores are so close together and a little distorted.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I haven't seen any of the routines but I think from memory Ana Porgras scored highest on BB in quals and AA so she was always going to be hard to beat but I really though that she could medal.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'm looking forward to seeing these routines when they come up on you tube. Can they all be that close? Did they start to high and leave themselves no room to move to separate the gymnasts? What the.......

    ReplyDelete
  46. Looks like Porgras gold and Bross and Deng tied for silver.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Those other girls are such big names too....Aussies just don't have the reputation like Bross etc.Sue, Lauren got silver last year.....but maybe that's not quite enough to have a 'big' reputation like the other girls do. Amazing final though - was very, very tough. Lauren - hit what more could you ask for?? Will be interesting to see what Peggy's comments are.

    ReplyDelete
  48. how do they decide between deng and bross?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Very happy that someone elegant like Porgras could win today, but oh I feel for Lauren 0.033 from bronze! Hope this fires her up for floor!

    ReplyDelete
  50. She did so well just a shame to miss out on the medals by so little.

    ReplyDelete
  51. She did so well just a shame to miss out on the medals by so little.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Anon 12:04 at worlds they will just give too silver medals, at Olympics they have to separate them.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I called it earlier. It's no coincidence that Lauren was down on Bross and Deng by the smallest margin capable (0.033). After lack lustre performances from the Chinese and Romanian teams and Bross individually they were due for some judge love. If Lauren hada different leo on she could've been the winner.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Hope it means floor will be stellar and she'll be duly rewarded!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Just watched Lauren's and Bross's routines and I must say Lauren is so much prettier to watch than Bross, however what I think gives Bross the edge is her attack and confidence she displays (oh and plus the fact she wears the US leotard of course :))
Well done to Lauren - oh so close

    ReplyDelete
  56. I watched and Porgras was really gifted the gold. Gorgeous gymnast, but not quite on today...

    ReplyDelete
  57. The Georgian link worked, cut off just before Lauren and came on again after! Happen to anyone else?

    ReplyDelete
  58. anyone know what leotard lauren is in?

    ReplyDelete
  59. Bross really isn't very graceful though. Lauren's got power and gracefulness that should be rewarded! But, that's the way it goes - she can't be too disappointed - she hit - you can't do anymore than that! I agree, though Bross is very confident up there - she jumps up on the beam and does not pause for a tiny second - goes straight to her turn. Bordering on rushed, at times I think. The thing that should have given Lauren a bit more of an edge is her 2.5 spin thing - noone else comes close to doing that. Was there anything particularly original in the other routines that medalled?

    ReplyDelete
  60. Bross has the Patterson dismount, and Deng does a Chen, both a little original, interesting at least.

    ReplyDelete
  61. http://www.veetle.com/index.php/channel/view#4caf5326c8e9a

Working! BBC footage, on slight delay

    ReplyDelete
  62. I agree - Lauren did a triple wolf turn. Bross did a single only. Just watched Porgras's beam and there's no way IMO she deserved the gold. She had 2 noticable wobbles - her flick, BHS, layout series was no where near as good as Laurens with a wobble at the end and her dismount had quite a deep squat and a step forward. If Lauren was in any other leo she would have medalled today. So dissapointing!!!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Thank u thank u Mez. Hopefully we can watch something that doesnt buffer every second!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Lauren did a beautiful job, and that's all you can ask for really. A bit disappointing because an extra tenth here or there from the judges makes such a difference, and when you are up 2nd and against the Romanians/Chinese/Russians/Americans it's a little harder to score well.

But we should be so proud of her for hitting her best routine of this marathon set of competitions tonight. I'm sure she is exhausted.

Going forward I would love to see her replace the double pike with a double arabian for her dismount, because she is really struggling to get her chest up on the pike as she has gotten taller.

    ReplyDelete
  65. It's frustrating that she nails the layout but missed the switch half back tuck combo. If she had nailed that like she had earleir in the week the extra 0.1 CV and lack of a wobble deduction would have had her in first. goin up second really didn't do her any favours yet somehow I don't see going up last infloor will do her any either.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Is that vocal in Mustafina's music?

    ReplyDelete
  67. I thought the same thing. I've actually heard similar before. Is this allowed as long as it's not 'words?'

    ReplyDelete
  68. What a fabulous floor final so far. GO LOZ!!!

    ReplyDelete
  69. OW MY GOD!! LAUREN WORLD CHAMPION!! WOWOOWOWOW!!!

    ReplyDelete
  70. TEARS OF JOY WOOOOOOOO!!
    I am so damn happy!!!

  73. OMG I cannot stop crying!! What a WONDERFUL moment...well done Lauren! We are SO proud!

    ReplyDelete
  74. WOW!!!!!
    World champion Lauren!
    fantastic!!! well done!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Lauren Mitchell - The finest gymnast Australia has EVER produced!!!

    ReplyDelete
  76. OMFG THANK YOU JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Well done Lauren, and big congratulations to Nicoli, Martine and Liz the real makers of the this gymnast.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Incredible, what a great month it has been for Lauren.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I cried. Its like my dream but Lauren did it. Well done. I never thought I'd see the day.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I was so nervous before this final but whemn I saw the top 3 qualifiers mess up I knew it was a huge oppurtunity. I was sitting here willing her to get a 5.9 D score and to land everything to her feet. So thrilled reight now. Really aleviates the disappointment of the BB final. I really thought she'ld be a much bigger threat in BB than floor.

Who needs to be Commonwealth Champ on floor when you're WORLD CHAMPION!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Haha yes how ironic that Lauren's the world floor champion but it was the one event at Commonwealth Games that she didn't win. She was obviously saving it up for now.

Oh and on a side note - I think Peggy needs to learn the words to our national anthem lol. Bet she never thought she'd see the day. So happy for Loz!!!

    ReplyDelete
  82. Just incredible on the back on the CWG games she has gone to worlds and nailed every routine bar one and topped it off with a gold medal. World Floor Champion, Australia'z first female world champion,

    ReplyDelete
  83. "Learn the words"? THEY CUT TO A SHOT OF HER BELTING THE WORDS OUT!

    ReplyDelete
  84. ok, so if you can;t sleep, email every news station....they had better show this tomorrow!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  85. Yeh but they were the wrong words haha :) No biggie I'm sure we all forgive her lol :)

    ReplyDelete
  86. PEGGY singing the national anthem??!! Wow - that is amazing in its self....you know how Americans are with their Anthem - hand over the heart and all that. What more can be said!?? I can't wait until this comes up on youtube! Peggy must have learnt the words!! I mean lets be honest, most Aussies learn the words in primary school - they don't leanrn them when they are an adult - even if you are a national coach! But full credit to herfor learning them - my respect for her just went up!!

WOW - I am so happy we have finally had this happen!! Trudy, allana and a few others went pretty close at times, but only to miss out....or atleast they had the routines if you like...but LAUREN HAS DONE IT. I beat Liz C is crying too!!

    ReplyDelete
  87. How amazing is it going to be seeing the pictures of the Australian flag over the Russian and Romanian flags?
Lauren Mitchell is my favourite person in the world right now haha!

After a year of injurieslimited preperation and a competition before hand she manages to save her best for the final routine. AMAZING.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Peggy has been living here for what, 13 years? I think she's married to an Australian too which was the reason for her coming here in the first place. I'm sure she'll always feel American but afterall this timeshe's certain to feel some patriotism for Australia too.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Can anyone be a little more specific as to what Beth said about Lauren being a medal chance?

    ReplyDelete
  90. YAY LAUREN!!!! I knew my sports luck would hold for one more day!

    ReplyDelete
  91. Beth: "It's basically anyone's game today, the start values are all similar."

Gabby: "You're not going to er give us a name then [Beth laughs], who you think is going to do it? What about Lauren Mitchell, she's had a good competition, not got a medal yet."

Beth: "Yeah er, I'd love to see her up there, I mean obviously last year she had two silvers, um she was just pushed out of the medals on beam, so she'll definately be out there fighting for a medal on floor."

    ReplyDelete
  92. Lauren's beam routine is up on Youtube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZ6IOmL8AEA
