Wonderful Weekend of WAG

Hi all. Apologies for a long absence. My laptop is out of action (again!) so I am currently stuck on my phone! I hope to have it working by the weekend, as I plan to bring you coverage of the American Cup and Aus v GBR events, not to mention observations from the VWHPC Open Day. There will be so much going on, I am dying to bring it to you as comprehensively as possible! Please bear with me! *mashes keys*

I am going and taking my camera. Can't wait to see how Britt is looking! Hopefully Brennan will be there too and we can see how she is looking ahead of Cottbus which will be very competitive.

I'm coaching in the morning, but hope to catch the afternoon session, it'll be great. If not, I sent a few of my gymnasts along to check it out. And I'll be checking out your photos Nade!

there was a video of her bars but they didn't look great. Same probems as before wth bent arms and amplitude and bad form on the jaeger.

I really think it would have been wiser to spend an extended period of time training upgrades for bars and vault instead of losing time to meets that really aren't that important.

The bars issue isn't just going to go away, so it is disappointing that there is no change or improvement in that routine 5 months after worlds.

be fair because it is going to be a hard routine to upgrade without working on pooerer elements she used in the past. She used to do inside stalders so that is a logical possibility but they were bad and inconsistent and would need lots of work. She really needs to train a big combo like shap+immediate free hip or stalder full that takes advantage of the code.

I think her jaeger needs major work, its really annoying that they have left a poor quality skill in for so long when all it does is attract deductions. Either you train a new release or work it till its right.

This would be my proposed 2012 routine

shaposhnikova + free hip/stalder 1/1(d+d, 0.2)
inside stalder 1/2 + improved jaeger (d+d, 0.1)
inside stalder 1/1+ bail (E+D 0.2)
stalder shoot (d+c, 0.1)
dismount D

3.3+2.5+0.6 = 6.4
Learn one new combo and work on inside stalder technique and voila.

hey guys, just so you know, I asked BG about AUS V GBR coverage and they said in no uncertain terms that there will be none :(

just our luck huh! The first overseas dual meet practically since Groningen 2003 and of course there is no coverage, nor are there spectators allowed who can bring us coverage. Nevermind that when it was GBR v ROM they put up every routine on BGtv.

Mitchell article from today:

http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/sport/a/-/other/8952020/mitchell-hits-the-road-to-london/

Noteworthy:
-Mitchell says only upgrading bars and floor
-Hasn't been training intensively over Summer due to uni
-Article says Mitchell, Chung, Little and Simpson will all attend international meets in the next little while. We know about the first three, but maybe we will see Simpson in something after all, since this article is as recent as can be
-No Cooney mentioned in race for 2012? Maybe she retired betwen December and now.

well the only other meets on the calendar are Doha and the Friendship Classic, so she must be going to one of them.

According to Blythe from The Examiner

Lauren Mitchell is planning to upgrade her first tumbling pass to a whip immediate double Arabian later this season.
