Follow live scoring at USA Gymnastics here.
The Couch Gymnast once again has Lauren Hopkins updating at Facebook live from the arena, while The Gymnastics Examiner is on the scene too.
The first subdivision has just kicked off, Australia will be in subdivision 2.
UPDATE: Georgia Simpson has been injured during the competiton and has been taken off for medical assistance. I believe it was a crunched ankle. Best wishes to Georgia.
ADDITIONAL UPDATE: Georgia landed her tucked full-in badly and was stretchered off and the team permitted to warm up tumbles again before competition continued with Emily's floor (which, it must be said, she's to be commended for standing up under the circumstances). The arena announcer advised the crowd that Georgia was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
My heart goes out to Georgia and I'm sending ever good wish in the world to her and her teammates as the competition rolls on with one less competitor.

Australia finished 4th (tremendous given the dramatic event that befell them). No AA podium placings but Little and Cassis finish in the top 8 in senior and junior respectively.
Update on Georgia (from AUS team manager): Dislocation, not fracture or break.
Apparatus finallists:
Emily, bars and floor
Lauren, beam and floor
Alex, vault and floor
Congrats, ladies!
You can see a photo gallery featuring aussies here.
Some videos (no aussies yet as of 8am Sunday) are starting to go up here.
Please leave messages for Georgia Simpson in the post above. Thanks.

Go girls!!!!!!!
Hey Lauren, thought you were looking out for the Aussies! You have missed most of their routines! The examiner is already giving full reports on the Americans ! Don't need two lots do we?
Oh no Georgia :(
GEORGIA SIMPSON injured!! no good.
It sounds really bad, that poor girl, devastating :(
apparently the break broke the skin and was bleeding badly! the poor girl, i really feel for her and the rest of the girls. its never easy to keep focussed after seeing that.
Oh no! Poor Georgia! I really hope she's okay (and that it doesn't shake the other girls up too much)
You know, it's a little more than 'I hope she's ok and that the other girls aren't shaken up'. The girl has just cracked her ankle with a bone jutting through the skin.
Her olympics are over, what she's been training for her entire career is over, the one season where she was healthy and competing is over. She's away from home and her family and stuck in hospital. Something tells me she's not ok. This is just terrible, terrible news.
Wise words Nade, I can't stop thinking about it. She has been through enough :(
Me too, I feel quite ill about it. One of the few times I wonder, is it really worth it, for what these girls have to go through?
We are at arena. Gruesome scene. Best wishes for speedy healing.
Wow, I only saw what Mez said about a crunched ankle. How devastating :(
No fracture!
I'm crying with sadness for Georgia, this is so sad
what a crock of shit - i'm sorry.
but if there was blood there was a breakage - You DONT break skin with a dislocation. NEVER seen it in 35years of medicine.
sounds like they are trying to do some damage control?
As the rim site for live results has crashed, follow @insidegym on twitter, look at previous tweets today & full results there
Very disappointed with Australian coverage - told you Mez to follow inside gym - ignore at your peril! If you are going to post links on this blog, accuracy appreciated.
Love and healing to Georgia xx
Agree. Extremely rare to have an ankle dislocation without fracture. Undoubtedly she will need reconstructive surgery to stabalise and repair the joint and the best that can be hoped is that she doesn't have any lifelong functional issues.
So sad to see a career end this way.
Was at the event and there is no doubt she broke something right around or above the ankle it was very sad as her lower leg was very twisted and they where cleaning up blood for atleast 20 minutes sorry for being graphic just stating the facts as I saw them in the arena about 30 feet away.
I was there and there was what appeared to be blood on her leg and on the floor, and they were.scrubbing something off the floor after they carried her.off the floor on a stretcher. How could she have just dislocated it and be bleeding?
I wasn't actually at home for a lot of the competition; came home to the news of Georgia's injury.
And I reported 'dislocation' as that was reported as coming from the AUS team manager.
Chill, Anons!
Mes, you aren't the only person reporting no fracture.. they even announced this at the competition, althouht like I said I was there, there was blood, on her ankle and the floor. Its very sad, and her teammates are to be commended for continuing! She was the first.in her team on floor and they got back on and did it, beautifully.
the AUS floor performance was very good. After one of their teammates be injured - really amazing. The team really pulled it together!!!
Georgia landed badly, fell on her face/head, and when she stood up, her foot was at a nasty angle and there was blood. As someone else mentioned the arena staff spent an extended amount of time cleaning up afterwards.
I was at the event. It was horrific to watch happening. I saw quite a few people crying in the bathroom while the floor was being cleaned up. In my gut and from others reactions felt like it was much more serious than a dislocation. Georgia is a beautiful gymnast and I hope that she will be able to recover from whatever this is.
Australians you should be proud of your team. They did a great job under very hard circumstances. The score sheets do not really reflect the story of your ream at this event. I saw a lot of strength, elegance and courage today.
An observer posted this about Georgia, brave girl:
I won't lie, from where I was sitting it looked like a career ending injury. It truly broke my heart. We've all seen footage of Strug's bad bars fall and Bross on VT last year - I would do the exact same thing they did and melt down a little bit. But Simpson did NOT cry, she did NOT freak out, she was so calm and stoic, I swear it was incredible. She is the bravest person on the planet and also was probably in a lot of shock.
Love to Georgia, her incredible coaching and support staff and family.
Get well soon Georgia! :)
Georgia is BRAVE. She has endured soooo much on and off the floor. Get well soon!
Video of the accident is on youtube, I just found it searching for pacrim videos.
I didn't have the heart to watch but left a comment to respond to a troll.
