JESOLO 2014 LIVE!

.... Will be happening right here, so watch that countdown clock!

While this Twitter is updating scores -- if you're reading this at 9pm Saturday they're doing it RIGHT NOW! GO GO GO GO GO GO!

Update 12:40am: Unfortunately I won't be staying up to watch the senior competition.

I can tell you, however that Australia's juniors had a mixed bag of a day, finishing in 5th place as a team. Results courtesy of the Italian Gymnastics Federation can be found here.

Update Sunday: Good morning!

Rewatch the coverage from the senior team and AA event here.

The introduction of the gymnasts is particularly interesting. Instead of marching in behind flags on poles, the athletes walk out behind flagbearers carrying their flag aloft as though it were a military ceremony. Then, an excerpt of each country's national anthem is played before they are sent off to start rotations.

The senior team finished in 4th. Australia's highest AA finisher was Kiara Munteanu in 9th. I have had a quick skip through the footage, I landed on more Aussies in the second half of it then the first so I'll go back and watch in full later today. Kiara stood up her double arabian like an absolute pro (but the same unfortunately can't be said for the punch tuck half on beam, eeeeesh) and Alex Eade has a fun new floor!

A Couch Gymnast wrap up is here. Full results can be seen here.

Update 9:45pm Sunday - apparatus finals happening right now, right here!

imho, Kiara was robbed of the bronze in bars EF. Great routine by her.

Well done to our Aussie girls. Great to see Australia competing again. Good luck Lauren and Olivia in Doha.
Heard on the grapevine ..... Georgia Simpson is of to Montreal to attend Ecole International Circus school. Wishing her all the best. Glad to see her talent won't be wasted.

So, we had a year off competing to concentrate on upgrades. The improvements are being seen in 3 events but why are we still continuing to do FTYs on vault? I don't understand the apparent lack of upgrades there.

totally agree anon 11:47, especially with the seniors. We have 1 junior that's doing a1.5 but how long will it take before we have any seniors that can do the "easier" senior standard vault?

Well done Kiara so proud of you. you have definitely proved yourself to the doubters. overseas scores are what count, no favouritism there. its going to be your year to shine. M2

we could have a pretty competitive team if rumoured DTYs eventuate.

For worlds I could see:

VT
Brown
Leydin
Eade
Godwin
Munteanu

UB
Eade
Godwin
Brown
Leydin
Munteanu

BB
Eade/Brown/Munteanu
Eade/Brown/Munteanu
Godwin
Leydin
Mitchell

FX
Munteanu
Brown
Eade
Godwin
Mitchell

As i see it, Vivian/Nedov/Miller/Monckton are all pretty much ineligible for any team Lauren is on as whoever is on the team with her must be able to both vault and do bars.

If those last three vaulters, all who have competed DTYs, had them by October, that is a pretty competitive lineup.

Aren't worlds a 5-4-3 format for qualifiers. In which case that would change the above list.

I think Lauren with her history as long as healthy is in all our major teams. Pleased the other girls look to have improved. Go Australia. We still need a few upgrades and overall just more solid polish on floor but I really think we are in a much better place than 12 months ago. Congrats to coaching staff and all the girls.
