Going WOGAbout

Follow the Aussies taking part in the 2014 WOGA Classic this weekend *LIVE* thanks to Gymnastike!

(If you can't access livestreaming, they'll be doing coverage via social media as well)

A fan on the scene says Em and Jaz were looking good in training! A variety of podium training videos from the stands are going up here. A great hi-res video from Gymnastike on podium training is here.

Follow the WOGA Twitter here and the Gymnastike Twitter here.

Edit Sunday evening: You can see the individual results for the International division, listing Emma and Jazminne, here.

Emma's beam here
Alicia Koloi's beam here
Jaz Cassis' beam here and bars here

It is a shame to see slips and errors, simply because these girls all have such wonderful presentation (and, in Cassis' case, unexpected explosive power as well) to be shown off to the world! They're only going to get better in time, that much is clear.

Alysha and Imogen are on the level 10 competitor list http://woga.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Level10ListWC.pdf
Although, Alysha's name is mispelt as 'Alecia'.

Why did Australia send gymnasts that were so unprepared ?

Anonymous said...

"Australia" did not send anyone. Remember these are privately funded gymnasts.

It might not have been underpreparedness. They could have been injured in warmup. Could've been anything. A source on the scene said they'd been looking great in podium training.

Thanks to Peggy deciding to keep everyone home from international competitions last year, I think it's going to take most, if not all, our gymnasts a while to get used to performing on the big stage again.

These girls were at camp and not given any assignments! results proof! See how they go at Buckeye.

Do you even know the full story why the girls didn't get assignments? Maybe you should get your facts right first before posting anything....

Privately funded or not good on them for getting out there! That 5.something on bars is very bad though - that is not a good experience for anyone (Australia or the gymnast herself). I hope she does not compete on bars again internationally atm for her own sake unless it was a freak one off to score that low.

Actually the girls were on a self funded trip arranged from last year and competed at 2 meets - WOGA and Buckeye Classic. They then trained a week with Cincinnatti Gymnastics Academy under Mary Lee Tracy and her olympic squad. I think the main focus was to get back on the horse, compete again and was performance not result based. From sources close to me i know that there were unfortunate situations arising at the day of competition for all the girls, and this hindered some performances. (thank you Mez) - they had great warm ups & podium training day before & lead up. WOGA training was also good. However, they regrouped and you can see from the Buckeye competition results that they did a fantastic job, with all girls placing and coming in 3rd as a team in a meet of over 3000 competitors. Focus on the positives people!

Looking forward to the Australian girls competing tomorrow in the Nadia Comanici Invitational. Good experience for all and fingers crossed they all have a good comp!

I agree with a number of the posts on this page... some of you need to get your facts straight before writing these posts. There were extenuating circumstances on the day of the WOGA Comp and as already mentioned, was self funded so these girls could get the experience they needed...that in itself re funding from GA is a whole different topic
