Larrissa and Lauren are registered for the Zibo (CHN) world cup at the start of April. Larrissa UB/FX, Lauren BB/FX.

Does anyone know what session Australia will compete in at PACRIM?

Just went into QAS and saw Daria Joura training!!!! She looked really fit and has a new floor routine. Apparently she is just doing floor and vault. Good luck with the comeback perhaps Chloe inspired her.

Omg! Wow how exciting!

Anonymous said...

Wow, that is unexpected. And amazing! Did she look like she was really training? Or just working out while visiting her parents?

Anonymous said...

Was Chloe training too?

Anonymous said...

weird.....I would have thought bars was the most sensible event for her to comeback on given the weaknesses in the national team and the injured ankle...

Anonymous said...

I heard last year that Daria was interested in trying out for Cirque, maybe she is training for that.

Anonymous said...

damn! yeh that's probably it then

Anonymous said...

That makes more sense than a comeback to elite gymnastics.

Anonymous said...

No I think u will find she is making a comeback.

Anonymous said...

if it were a comeback, why would she be making it now? It seems weird because it is too late for the OG.

Anonymous said...

Does anyone know if Pac Rim is televised?

Anonymous said...

Why is it 2 late for the Olympics.?

Anonymous said...

She would have to be ready in time for Nationals which is 14 weeks away and unless she is already landing difficult skills, it's just not enough time to take skills from training to podium

Anonymous said...

So does anyone know for sure what's Dasha's doing back at training? I for one am sooo excited to hear this and am dying to know what she's up to.

Anonymous said...

Is she really making a comeback? If so does anyone know how long she has been training for? no bars does seem strange.

Anonymous said...

Pac Rim will definitely be televised in the US, and I bet some of the American gym fans will put videos on YouTube pretty quickly. There's a couple of folks on WWGYM who often put full meets up on YouTube also, which is awesome, cos I like seeing the bits in between routines!

Anonymous said...

Mez, can you do some research on the Joura rumour and clear this up?

Anonymous said...

From what I have heard Dasha has been training for a year or so getting back into gymnastic shape. Maybe she is only concentrating on the two apparatus she is strongest in. Good luck ! She is a strong competitor, would be great to see her in action again.

I will do what I can within the boundaries of appropriateness.

But I will say now that, elite comeback or Cirque aspirations or whathaveyou, Ms Joura is not in any way obligated to give some kind of explanation or justification.

Anonymous said...

I don't think explanation or justification is what people are after, I think they just want to know if they can start celebrating! I don't want to get my hopes up but it would make my year if we were to have the delightful Miss D back on the world stage!

Anonymous said...

"Appropriateness"?? You could just use journalistic inquiry skills and ask credible sources what is happening? They can decline to comment, which is fine...or they may give you a response, which you could report.

Anonymous said...

It would be interesting to see how her body would cope physically , would she now be 22 or 23? I would think for Dasha it would be more of how she would cope mentally.

Anonymous said...

I think she turns 22 this year. There are older gymnasts around but I wonder how her ankle will hold up

Wtf! Mez runs this blog out of her own goodwill whilst she juggles paying her bills, working fulltime and having a life! Don't just expect her to drop everything and be detective for you - especially when she has no accreditation as a member of the media so can't just 'ask credible sources' and okay detective for you! Geez! Why don't you do it if you so want to know. Anyone you ask would probably tell you just as little as they'd tell Mez.

She is not at your beck and call - she doesn't have to run this blog at all. A polite request is perfectly understandable but when you have a go at her don't expect her to try too hard after speaking to her like that.

Anonymous said...

It wasn't her lack of inquiry that was the issue but the strange reason given as to why she would not...nothing to do with bill paying etc. So please calm down and comprehend what you are responding to before becoming hysterical,

Anonymous said...

Completely agree with the poster at 1:35am... :-)

Anonymous said...

very strange post by anon 1.35. People are just making an inquiry there is no need for harsh words it lowers the tone of the web site and the idea of it .

Jourapal said...

Joura is NOT making a comeback, she is merely using the gym for fitness.

Anonymous said...

But seriously, what special whiz bang confidential information do you expect Mez to get that you couldn't? She is likely not going to have any more luck getting the scoop than Joe Bloggs off the street is. She's not superwoman. Way too many commenters expect way too much from her.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for clearing that up Dasha it is a shame would be great to see u back in action !!!

Come on now, given Mez has used this blog to establish contact with people in the gymnastics world, uses it to receive praise from readers, to advertise to readers and even uses it to get attention on her birthday, it is not too much to request she use her pulling power to suss out a major rumour on the Aussie gym scene.

This is even less of an unreasonable request considering there is next to no content on this blog actually generated by Mez herself, rather, it is reposts of stuff written or created by others. It is hardly the time and effort burden people make out. The Couch Gymnast is an example of a blog where the author has actually researched and written her own stories about Aussie gymnasts rather than taking the material of others.

4.29pm. Well said.

You do not need "accreditation" as a journalist to ask questions...her position as the author of a blog would get her easy access...as it does for 1,000's of bloggers around the world.

Then it's just a case of asking a few very simple questions.

The author of this blog complains vehemently about under-reportage in the traditional mainstream media, but given an opportunity to report herself, in a professional and informed manner, fails to do so. Strange.

Anonymous said...

I kind of agree, in that the blog is certainly not reporting as thoroughly or insightfully as it used to, and is relying on too much content from elsewhere. When was the last time Mez went to a meet herself and wrote up a report or uploaded videos? I really miss her witty commentary and personal touch.

I can see that there were 330 posts in 2009 compared to 140 in 2011 and a lot of major events and newsworthy items are missed these days.

I think that's why people find it irksome when people chastise them for requesting coverage of what may be a major story when there has already been such a massive dropoff in attention anyway. If you want readers, you have to feed them. Things like announcing the AGB Awards a year late don't bode well for ongoing readership.

With that said, we don't know Mez's personal circumstances so we can't blame her, but at the same time don't blame loyal readers for expecting what they're used to when they make the effort to visit this blog.
