2014 Worlds: AA Final Wrap-Up

Last night had everything from a parade of pink to a bee in the bouquet!

Georgia Rose Brown was elegant as always in the "lucky" purple prelims leo, but our only look at her in the livestream was on floor, a routine that seemed a little watered down (front lay full in place of the double arabian pass) but the closing double tuck was great. A world away from the freakishly unsinkable Americans, sure, but mentally tough enough to tackle four exhausting pieces with all her teammates in the stands, Georgia finished 21st overall.

Her scores are here, the best coming on vault.

I've been holding out the vain hope someone gets withdrawn and we'll see Larrissa today in the uneven bars final, but now that comp is about to kick off for the day it's looking highly unlikely.

Tune in tomorrow (Sunday) from 4:00pm AEDST for Larrissa Miller in the women's floor final. And who knows, maybe we'll have a miracle and Emma Nedov budges into beam final too!

The best score was on vault?? She must have watered down her routines quite a bit then surely?? Bit of a worry doing a yurchenko full and that's the best score in the AA....but anyway, she did better than the other AAs from Australia to make the AA.
Despie the low scoring vaults if what someone said earler about the girls working on harder vaults but they are not risking injury atm I would agree that is a good strategy given Australia's position of having limited elite gymnasts. Imagine if a few of them went down with major injuries...we would barely fill a team for Rio. Countries like America can 'risk'major injuries (not that it is good for individuals)and still ahve many girls lining up to fill the spots. Australia does not have that luxury.

Actually, I disagree. There are a raft of Australian juniors coming through the system who will be age eligible for Rio with considerably higher D scores across all apparatus then the majority of current seniors. Including several I am already aware of training DTY's. Peggy herself has already alluded to this. The future bodes well and our depth will improve considerably over the next year or so.

Is there a reason why there is not one video of the Australian girls for fans to watch from worlds?

10.54 - Fair enough. I am not too aware of the juniors up and coming and what they are training. I hope that is the case!

Good luck Larrissa!

Congratulations to Larrissa finishing 6th with 14.233 in the floor final!

Mez this blog has some very interesting discussions but It is disappointing when people resort to name calling. Our coaches are who they are and do the best job they can and make decisions base on what is necessary. It is not the right forum to denigrate coaches or clubs. Go directly to these people or clubs and deal with them face to far. When rude and dispassionate comments are made then anonymously
it represents the action of a coward. they should be deleted. Peggy and other coaches deserve respect as does every human being. Put your name to a comment that is rude. If you have the courage to make it OWN IT!!!

Are IP addresses for such posters able to be identified?

Anonymous said...

and what is your name? its a bit hypocritical that you are posting as anonymous

Anonymous said...

yeah, cmon tell us your name then?

Anonymous said...

It is possible to track identity by ip address, but google are hardly going to hand over the ip address over a bit of name calling and a bitter parent whinging about Darren.

lol, some people are overly sensitive

Take a spoonful of concrete and toughen up!

Anonymous said...

Are people really surprised? This blog is just a massive troll-fest.

Anonymous said...

People troll for only one reason, to get attention. By posting to them directly, or about them indirectly, it's giving them exactly what they want by feeding their need for attention. It's pretty sad really. If people want them to stop, then stop posting to them or about them. They'll soon go somewhere else to get their 'fix'.

Anonymous said...

Very true.

Mez needs to properly moderate this blog and disable anonymous posting otherwise it will just continue. Someone will always feed the trolls.

I'm not sure having to register a name and email address will make much of a difference. It's easy to make up multiple email addresses and names and continue to troll. It's an unfortunate part of online forums/blogs.

Anonymous said...

Having said that though, I've seen very little (if any) posts from trolls at the Aus Gym forum, where posters need to register. But maybe that's because they all hang out here where it's too easy to troll.

Precisely -- they don't want to take the time to sign up and be more accountable for their words. Just like they don't here when the option to post under a login is clearly available, and they don't on the occasions I DO switch the anon function off.

"Take a spoonful of concrete and harden up, people are too sensitive!" Seriously? Ah yes, it's WE who need to change, of course. How foolish of me. Oh for those heady days of yester when you could freely be a speculating, slanderous, self-interested, fire-starting uninvited idiothole about innocent people doing their jobs and your utterances went unrefuted in a public space, none of this "courtesy" and "considering the ramifications" lark am I right?

I left the likes of GGMB because being mature about your fandom and "we're all adults here" doesn't have to go hand in hand with cliquism, body-shaming, and snark for snark's sake.

The Last time Mez switched the Anon button off no one left comments and the blog died.

I have never commented here anonymously, mate. I get auto-logged in anyway.

I mean, someone wanting to speak positively around here shouldn't be a shocking or scorn-worthy thing. Are you of the GamerGate persuasion perchance? Doesn't making garbage angels all the time get boring?
