I would love to see some videos of the level 10 girls and the international 6, 8 & 10's if anyone is filming these sessions?!

Does anyone have a list of the elite competitors? Last year they published it on the website but this year they haven't.

Still holding out hope that GA might put up some videos like they did for Pac Rim, but the dismal 'Championship Page' on their website does not exactly instill confidence.

First session of Level 7 finished. Victoria looked very polished and proffesional. Great team spirit shown by all athletes and coaches. NSW had some stand out performances and the prettiest Leo!

Can anyone clarify something for me. I am really confused. On the Gymnastics Australia profiles sections for the girls it says 'the following athletes are competing at the 2010 Australian Championships' and then there is a jumbled list of profiles that includes tons of girls who will not be at nationals, and omits profiles for some who are clearly not retired like Emma Jane Nedov. Besides, aren't the squads supposed to be updated after nationals and not before? What happened? They can't seriously think that Georgia Simpson and Emily Little are both juniors?!

I just wanted to say kudos to Rohan Kennedy for some great articles and analysis on MAG nationals. He has done a great job writing plentiful info about MAG on the GA site in recent weeks.

Too bad they haven't bothered with any preview or info about WAG nationals and CWG/Youth Olympics selection. Do they really have nobody on the WAG side to write a couple of paragraphs? Here I was thinking they might actually make an effort this year after last year's dismal failure.

If your thinking of this list http://www.gymnastics.org.au/ga/nationals2010.aspx?id=WG I wont say that it's very acurate and some proof reading is required. Sophie Budack is doing Senior and so is Mary-Anne, Doubt she will be doing jnr and SNR. Noticed Ashleigh Kittl is not on the list as competing but we know she is not on the National squad yet, Emma Jane is missing as well. Makes me think this might be a bit of last years page?

Anonymous said...

Emily is also on that list as Jnr and Snr :)

There is obviously no accuracy whatsoever in that list. Though they do seem to have removed some people who were on last year's list like Nikola Chung, Emma Nedov, Naomi Lee and Katie Wurth, so some changes have definitely been made. Very strange.

On the upside, they made a point of adding Dasha back into the team list :) I try not to get my hopes up but it would be SO amazing to have her back.

Ironically, since Nikki Chung is one of the few who actually are competing at nationals.

I think they may have up for juniors anyway those juniors who were in the squad at this time last year. I think that has already been mentioned but I think that it makes sense considering nikola chung was only international level 10 last year and there is till one gymnasts who are now senior on the list.

They have clearly made some sort of strange error or whoever updated the list was way off!!
The list up until GA have put this up were:
Senior: Georgia B, Sophie B, Alex BA, Fiona Coley, Emma D, Britt, Emily L, Chloe T, Zoe, Larissa, Lauren, Maryanne, Shona, Georgia S, Georgia W, Karina and Clare (although i am not sure why she was on the senior list when she is 95.
Junior: Georgia-Rose, Nikki, Grace C, Shar-lee, Emma C, Rachel, Ashley, Angela, Tierra, Laura, Natalia, Amaya, Naomi Lee, Amelia, Emma N, Svetlana and Katie W.
They will probably change slightly after Nationals anyway

Watching Dasha train the other day she looks like she still has a way to go to get back into condition.

re: last comment about Dasha, can you give us any more info? I would love to hear about her progress.

Anonymous said...

Well she has been out for a really long time, and I suspect lacks the motivation she had before Beijing. Especially as she'd know that she is still in for a long wait now to do anything remarkable competition wise. She's left it too late for CWG so she'd know that the next big thing to work towards is still more than a year away (for 2011 worlds) or 2+ years away (London). Must be hard to be motivated when your goal is so far away.

When Dasha returned to training early this year Liz C did think it would take her about a year to get into shape for competition so the fact that she is still out of condition is not surprising. As mentioned by the previous anon the next major competition she could compete in would be next years worlds and that is still a long time away. So there is probably so point in her training really hard to get into competition shape when there is going to be no competition for a long time. She does have to combine study and work as well as training which I imagine would be fairly difficult. I think it is good that she is still training and has not ruled out a comeback to competition
