Our homegrown World Champion on floor, Lauren Mitchell, is featured in the latest edition of Inside Sport magazine. The piece, entitled "Top Floor", is penned by the gymblog world's own interviewer extraordinaire Brigid McCarthy!
Have a happy Easter, everybody. Keep safe and well.

If somebody could possibly scan the article and upload it somewhere, at least one Aussie expat would be very apreciative!
Any idea of timetable for nationals in Perth?
there is a draft on the gym wa website. It shows up funny sometimes on my computer though, other times it works.
There are 3 days of comp for the snr/jnr girls again,
Thanks found it!
this will also be the first official trial for the Tokyo team.
should be entertaining
yes - if chloe sims has any hope of competing in tokyo, she will have to be there (and at the QLD trial in a month's time)
I was thinking about the world team this afternoon and it's going to be really competitive just to make the 2nd trial this year, even if a few go down with injuries. The girls will really need to be at their best at nationals otherwise they risk missing out altogether.
It seems clear Bonora will not be in action this year.
Thus the certainties in my opinion are:
Emily Little
Lauren Mitchell
Nikki Chung
Larrissa Miler
Ashleigh Brennan
Georgia Wheeler
Mary Anne Monckton
Zoe Lorenzin
Angela Donald (presumably ready by then, I'm guessing she will petition through and will easily make it to September trials)
Which leaves only 3 spots for any of the following who i think may also have a good shot:
Amelia McGrath
Georgia Simpson
Georgia Rose Brown
Katie Wurth
Natalia Joura
Sophie Budack
and any outside chances:
Natasha Hammann
Shar-Lee Clark
Tierra Exum
Amaya King Koi
Chloe Sims
It's really sad some will miss out.
No mention of Mary Anne on the VWHPC site? Did she attend camp?
there's no mention of Britt, Laura or Ebonie either, so it might not mean anything...hopefully...if she's injured again I'll seriously scream!
don't forget grace flood, she is on the jnr nat team so presumably would have been there too...
Mez and Ebony both attended the camp but did not do verification due to injuries. Britt and Laura I think are injured and didn't attend
is Mary-Anne's a bad injury? Why must the gym gods punish her like this? It is so unfair :(
Well if she went to the camp, it clearly cant be too bad, as others who were more injured stayed home. Perhaps her sitting out was just precautionary. Lots of athletes have niggles from time to time. Why do a verification on hard surfaces when it is not essential?
With that said, does anyone know if she is expected to be right for trials and Vics? I will be really sad for her if she misses out again.
Natalia also missed camp?
Congratulations to Angela Donald who was awarded VIS ‘Gymnast of the Year’ at the prestigious VIS awards night and 21st VIS birthday celebration held at Crown Casino on Thursday 14th April. Her history making bronze medal win at the Youth Olympics and winning of both the Victorian and National Championships were highlighted as key achievements that led to her award.
Angela is out for worlds and nationals this year, right? I remember hearing it somewhere but can't remember where...
I have to say I love that Bunny! Sooooo
