1. A sweet article on Nationals-bound bars anchor for Oregon State, Olivia Vivian, that recently got forwarded to me.
2. QLD's Natalia Joura featured briefly on Channel Ten's "Totally Wild". Apologies if the link doesn't work.
3. Check previous post's comments for notes and observations from the VWHPC Invitational (which I unfortunately missed). The highlight? Zoe Lorenzin's Yurchenko double!
4. Pacific Rim alternate Emma Nedov featured in a North Shore Times article last week.
The Year 10 Brigidine College student impressed the judges after executing a difficult flip, flip, lay-out manoeuvre.
“That’s a very difficult skill and [Australian representative] Lauren Mitchell and I are the only two girls in Australia who are doing it,” she said. “It’s something I am proud of when I stick it and it makes my beam [routine] more interesting.”
Speaking of Lauren Mitchell, please be advised that she is reported to have withdrawn from the upcoming Glasgow World Cup.
Thanks to everyone who has sent me news and observations from the world of Aussie gymnastics. Keep 'em coming!

Natalia looks gorgeous on TV
Go Olivia
there is a workorder up for vic trial 1.
All VWHPC girls except Svetlana
All MLCs except Ostojic
All Jets
No WGC except Rachael Boyd. We knew that Angela and Georgia would not be ready, but what is the deal with Emma Collister? She got a funded place so she must be looking alright but we haven't heard anything about her for a year? And Kittl?
Waverley seniors rarely do trial 1. How come IDP5 do trial - are they going to Nationals - they don't usually.
All gymnasts should have to do trial 1 and 2, they don't compete enough.
Most (if not all) states have idp 5 on the same competition schedule as IDP6 and above. They do ideal testing at the same time, are eligible to be part of team future and compete at national clubs. Many squads are IDP 5 and above. But no, they are not actually "trialing" for nationals as the first level there is IDP 6.
Ostojic isnt competing. Isobel looker is doing national 9...
Did Rachel collister retire a while ago and I just missed it?
Yes Rachel retired last year (at least from elite) not sure if she is still doing gym.
could please someone post the natalia's video on youtube for the non aussies?
NCAA semis just finished... OSU missed out on finals, but Olivia made bars EF! Big shock is that Florida, who has dominated most of the season, until they decided to fall apart on beam for the pointy end of the season were also knocked out. Stanford (Shona Morgan's team) didn't qualify to Nationals after a rough regionals outing. Olivia will compete in finals on Sunday.
Castle Hill have another nice update on their site with pics of NSW Elite Squad training.

I'm really sad for both Stanford and OSU, as they have been standouts all season. Hopefully Shona comes back really strong and healthy next year and we can see that gorgeous floor a few more times.
At least Olivia made bar finals as an individual! Go Olivia!
hey mez,
are you still going to put up the videos from vwhpc open day? not to rush you or anything, but just letting you know that people are still interested in seeing them
Can someone tell me about castle hill's results? I know Celeste loo won IDP 6 a couple of years ago but I haven't really seen anything else from her or them. I may have missed something, just wondering about what they have produced? Who are their coaches? Their background?
They are an up-and-coming elite club in NSW. They have a lot of girls on the NSW elite squads and Rebecca Chong and Celeste Loo are also on the junior national team. The elite coach is a Russian, Sasha Kazmiakhin, who formerly coached at the AIS.
Their WAG elite program is still relatively new, but they seem to be headed in the right direction. Celeste is certainly a gem.
I think Celeste has been injured a bit which is why her name hasn't popped up so much ion results for the last couple of years ^
Someone mentioned Collisters before?
A recent article on Emma can be found here: http://www.melbourneweekly.com.au/news/local/sport/other/emma-collister-flooring-them/2109483.aspx
To the anon who asked, I desperately want to get my videos from the Open Day up, but my laptop internet signal has gone kaput again. Won't be too long now.
