2014 Worlds: WAG Team Final Wrap-Up

Eight is great but seven is simply heaven!

Australia's women bettered their prelims performance and finished 7th in the team final last night, counting one major fall across their competition, a slip in an otherwise glamorous performance from Larrissa Miller on floor. She's bound for redemption in the final this weekend.

Said routine, the only one of Australia's to be broadcast on the live online stream last night, can be seen at 00:35:00 here. I am very frustrated they showed Georgia saluting for beam then cut away.

Scores were brilliant on beam and booming on bars, talk about hitting when it counts in 6-3-3!

Liv says thumbs up!

The team are to be commended, and the only way from here is up and up some more. Monckton tweeted after the competition that she plans to have her Yurchenko double next year, and Vivian is no doubt to get her Schludern signature skill down pat.

See the full results here, AFP press photos here and while we wait for what are bound to be stunning finals shots of the team, you can view Nadia Boyce's arrestingly beautiful pictures from prelims here. Please do not use without her express permission.

Here's where you can find the individual scores from TF

Those are some surprisingly decent numbers on UB and BB but some awfully low SVs on floor and especially vault. To put it in perspective every team that finished ahead of Australia had at least 3 DTYs. Only Japan had vaults under a DTY, a 5.3, 5.4 and 5.8. Australia had 3 FTYs so they were already behind 2.4 points on vault alone. Obviously having Lauren on BB instead of GRB and floor instead of Olivia/GRB would have bumped up those SVs considerably but the fact that we don't have many back up options is worrying. I still think Kiara should have been given a spot on floor.

It's a shame Maryanne didn't score as well in the qualies as she would have made beam finals with her TF routine.

When are you going to learn to spell?

Lol. Her vault was the second highest of all the girls on the team. Shall we fire MAMs coach or Kiara's coach...? All of Emmas scores counted in qualification for team. Obviously cannot add up either..

Just ignore them guys. Pity the hand they used to type that attempt to troll.

Someone on here really doesn't like Darren lol. He's obviously doing something right if she's 1st reserve for beam finals!

It's very dis heartening to see people saying nasty things about coaches on this blog. If you have a personal issue it should be taken up with the coach. To place a comment with nasty content anonomyously is cowardly. Own the comment and take it to a private forum preferably face to face where the person being attacked can respond.

Do you really not no how to spell. Wow NSW education system has really let you down. Maybe you should take up your gripe with them and leave Darren alone!!

The bad speller is back but I believe the spelling is just a cover so that this persons real identity is covered, therefore a disgruntled parent maybe? However if your daughter is happy at the other two IDP centres in Sydney, Manly or Sydney West, then maybe you should just allow your bitterness to subside. Do you realise people are deducing who this child is and you are tarnishing your childs reputation therefore leading to them never being nominated for the National Team? You are harming your own child by gossip and innuendo. How sad.

There are quite a few of us who are 99% sure that we know who the Darren-hater is. Be assured you are doing yourself and your family no favours. Time to move on.

I think you need to add at least 3 more clubs to that list!

Who??

Anonymous said...

what clubs??? With the demise of Castle Hill and Epping, there are only Sydney West, Manly Warringah and SGAC doing IDP in Sydney? Some smaller clubs do IDP1-3 but that is it. I am gathering we hit the nail on the head....

NBG? Bunnerong? Westfields?

Anonymous said...

NBG, Northern Beaches, closed down its elite a number of years ago, I believe Bunnerong closed altogether, Westfield is Sydney West Gymsport. Same thing different name. Therefore only three alternatives in Sydney for elite.

i thought NBG closed down completely?
