Good news has filtered through on the Aussie gymnastics front.
Lauren Mitchell has qualified in first place to two finals at the DTB Cup! She leads beam (6.4/14.875) and floor qualification (5.8/14.425), managing a commendable fourth rank for the bars final (5.5/13.725). Good luck, Lauren!
Our Marseille squadron is doing well, too. According to the VHPC at Facebook:
Tierra has qualified for vault finals, Alex for floor finals, georgia for bars finals, nikki for vault, bars, beam and Natalia for vault and floor. Aus team came 3rd. The VWHPC team finished 4th. Alex came 5th AA, Tierra finished 12th, and Laura came 30th.
More information about the Massilia international field can be read here. Apparently Georgia Simpson is competing as part of a 'mixed team' with a Swedish gymnast!
****ETA: The Australian team finished 3rd overall, with Nat Joura the highest ranked all-around finisher in 6th.

Did Georgia Simpson compete?
ignore my post. Didnt read properly.
Georgia S did not end up travelling to Marseille
On a sidenote FIG has released their new named skills from worlds. Lauren has the triple wolf turn on beam and floor named after her now. Both are rated Es.
How did you find out that the triple wolf turn is now named after Lauren? Do you know who the other gymnasts are that have skills named after them?
Anyone know how Georgia, Natalia and Nikki went in AA?

If you select 04 WAG you can see lists of the skills submitted at worlds and youth olympics this year. For a new skill to be named after you it needs to be a C or higher. That rule was implemented in 2009. Lauren had her mount named after her in 2008 but as it is only an A it's not named after her anymore despite her being the first and only gymnast to do it. It is, however, still in the code.
This video shows all the new skills from this year.

The mount at 54 seconds is actually really old, I think Korbut did it in 1972 but for some reason it was removed from the code and is now being put back in.
The only other Australians to have skills named after them are Trudy McIntosh for her front handspring full twist layout vault and Jacqui Dunn for her Onodi beam mount. Mary-Anne Monckton is the only gymnast who has performed a piked Shushunova on UB but it hasnt't been submitted as she was not at worlds.
Results are up for the master massilia, Natalia best of Australians in AA 6th, I think she has made vault and beam finals not floor. She had a high enough score on bars to make the final but Nikki and Georgia-Rose were ahead of her and two per country rule. Only scored in the 12s on floor, fell maybe? Nikki came 9th and looks to have done well on bars again, improved on vault and also improved on beam, seemed to struggle on floor. It looks like Georgia- Rose came tenth and may have fallen on beam and possibly floor. She did well on bars again and scored quite well on vault.
Scores
Natalia 52.750
Nikki 51.700
Georgia-Rose 51.550
Georgia is not there.
According to the Massilia site Alex came first on bars but not mentioned on VWHPC facebook. Shouldn't she be in the bar final? Can anyone clarify?

Lauren Mitchell has done an awesome job in the Stuttgart World Cup finals winning bars, beam and floor. How great is that!!!
Remember guys, Lauren Mitchell had good qualities but wasn't a stand out and look where she is now... a champion!!! We have been told that the key is perseverance and a true desire from the gymnast, not the parents. All I can say is support your daughter in the sport as there are a lot of things that aren't fair.Encourage them, guide them and most of all teach them to be team players, and support each other. The coaches also need to learn to be supportive and fair but we can't control that. This unfairness happens in all clubs!!!

What has the argument got to do with International travel? I think people are just frustrated, but this sort of thing happens everywhere; sport, workplace, school. If you really can't cope with it leave as there is no other solution.
:) :O :/ <3
