Wasn't sure where to write this but....gymnastics Australia is paying let's say 200k a year to Peggy Jo and Stacey. All very creditable but none are involved in programs day to day. I believe the Chinese and Russians would laugh at our current system. Let's say we keep Peggy however in place of camps she spends 2 weeks per year with each idp program and runs one major camp. The other 2 senior national staff would be let's say Peter Abbott and John hart. Paid an extra 20k for responsibilities. From a business point of view having our 3 most powerful staff behind a desk and coaching now or then or should I say preaching to others how to coach is a waste of money, as said earlier some other countries would laugh at our system. No disprespect to Peggy Jo or Stacey but get Jo and Stacey back in a gym, these roles r a waste of time unless they r one of the current coaches.
Sorry my idea for camps would need to be re thought but Peggy would run them with the other 2 head coaches whom ever they might be but they should be coaching full time somewhere.
Yes anon 9:42 i agree the structure in australia needs to be looked at and changes made. This would also make more GA money available which should be used to fund The senior athletes training costs and give more girls junior and senior international experience - this is most important.
I strongly believe this would have a big impact on the current culture in idp gyms around Australia the current system is repressing our coaches coaching stratagies, creative artistic emotional people hate being told what to do and if they are involved in a program they clearly know what there doing and want to express there way. The current system restricts this, let comps determine the outcomes.
Was'nt sure where to include this..... As there is no NSW Institute there are no NSW scholarships. Any idea as to why this is and when this may change, and do the states get any national funding? It must be a concern for NSW parents of future International gymnasts, what long term options do they have? (Other than move state!)
