Glasgow A-Go-Go 2

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a superstar in Lauren Mitchell.

Our Loz has had to make extra room in the trophy cupboard for more hardware - she won floor and beam overnight in Glasgow, and settled for a bronze on bars.

Read more about her golden run here and here, and look out for videos here.

ETA: Bars final video!

I don't know about you guys, but - failing an American Cup invitation - I definitely see an IG Magazine Gymnast of the Year nomination on the cards!

(In the cards? On the cards? My idioms are, how do you say, not so goodness.)

American Cup is a World Cup A meet next year and as per the new rules Lauren is already qualified to all AA comps at world cup As and BB and FX EFs too. If she wants to compete anywhere in the world she can. One of the perks of being top 8 AA and top 8 on BB and FX at worlds.

A for the gymnast of the year, a nomination would be great but I don't see anyone coming close to beating Mustafina.

I see a nomination for sure (they nominate something like 4 or 6 from MAG and WAG don't they?), though Bross/Mustafina would surely be favourite for the win.

Congratulations Lauren...a fantastic effort once again. What an inspiration you are to all young gymnasts. Well done!

She's already got to be our most decorated gymnast, right? I know we've had superstars in the past but Lauren already has so much international hardware. I love her consistency.

2010 has definitely been the Year of the Lauren. :P

Oh she's by far our most successful gymnast. Monette is the only other Australian female gymnast to have an individual medal at world championships, her bronze in the AA from 05.Lisa and Allana have made Olympic event finals. Phil Rizzo is the only opther gymnast who comes close to Lauren in terms of worlds medals with his gold and silver in high bar from worlds. Prashanth has also got quite the medal collection.

Her wikipedia infobox continues grow by the day! Can't wait to see her add even more difficulty to her routines. I'm curious to see whether she will get new floor music soon. On one hand; why mess with success, on the other hand she has had this piece for ages.
It would be great for her to contest the American Cup. It would be great exposure and experience. She's just so great for Australian gymnastics :)

GYMJETS is really improving rapidly. Lutayenko must be doing a tremendous job over there to bring their program from relative obscurity to having girls on the Team Future High Achievers Squad and winning national competitions in the elite divisions.

Demitria Andrellos, Tierney Thouless and Nicole Grout are all looking like great future prospects.

Not to mention having Natasha Hamman winning 2 silvers at Snr Elite and in contention for the CWG team!

IDP 5's and 6's had a great meet and they're now looking forward to the training camp. Is the AIS Arena always this empty?
