Can't wait, Who's turning up for Nationals?? Thanks for spectater price way more affordable this year!

Yes the all event pass is really good value. $55 for all sessions and I think there is also a group discount on top of that. Hopefully we'll see a good croud this year. It is a shame it falls in the WA school holidays as many families will be away.

It will be interesting to see exactly how many Seniors will be competing, the numbers seem to be shrinking due to injury.

What happened with WA States? They seemed to have dropped of the radar a bit.Not much news seems to escape the West.

Results are on the GWA website. Probably not much to tell. Only 1 IDP 10, no juniors and Georgia Simpson the only senior to compete. Georgia had 5.1, 5.5 and 4.1 D scores for Bars, beam and floor respectively but low execution scores on bars and beam so I'm guessing she counted some falls as her execution is normally very good.

Georgia Simpson was the only Senior, a shame. Nikki Chung was withdrawn due to injury and Emily
also, Lauren was away. Georgia had
some falls but executed a beautiful new floor routine. Very elegant, low in D score but obviously not all tumbles were there. One to watch for sure.

my mistake; 2 IDP 10's

according to registrations, it should be

SA/WA (5) - Yeo, Chung, Mitchell, Little, Simpson

QLD (5) - Sims, Miller, Budack, Brooks, King Koi (Wurth and Joura must be injured long term?)

VIC (8) - Wheeler, Brown, Monckton, Brennan, McGrath, Exum, Lorenzin, Greeley

Brooks & King koi didn't even compete at qld states! you would think that would be a lead up for nationals? who knows..will see...
and yes i'm guessing wurth & joura are injured because they weren't at states either.

There must be question marks on
McGrath, Lorenzin,Exum, Wheeler, Little and Chung for Nationals.

There is a nice wrap up of the WA State Championships on the Gymnastics WA site. It seems Lauren was not the only one to have a new floor by Adriana Pop, Georgia Simpson did also.

Your style is so unique compared to many other people thank you for sharing the info I found helpful details. It will be interesting to see exactly how many Seniors will be competing, the numbers seem to be shrinking due to injury.

From just reading the selection procedures for the world championships, only 12 girls will progress past these nationals to selection trial 2. It's a bit sad because a few will miss out now, and it's quite a while to worlds still.

Who do you think will make it/should make it?

Personally I think that Angela will be able to successfully petition a place onto the 12 person squad. Joura and Wurth are other possible petitioners who would be line ball. I think the strongest group would be:

Mitchell
Little
Miller
Brennan
Donald
Wheeler
Brown
Monckton
Sims
Lorenzin
Chung

Which leaves only 1 spot for any of
Wurth
Joura
McGrath
Simpson

Seems a shame to count out any of them :(

u forgot greeley.....

A number of those girls in your top list are injured.Simpson was in the worlds team last year, I would'nt put her in the bottom list.

king koi

McGrath medalled on floor at Pac Rim last year against American & chinese gymnasts, I wouldn't put her in the bottom list either

Chloe sims CANT compete worlds this year as she is not FIG registered

Anonymous said...

well whoever's responsible for that should be shot since she'll likely be an AA medallist at nationals...

Anonymous said...

That seems strange seeing as she stated Worlds as a goal. How do you know she isn't FIG registered , whatever that means.

from the FIG website

"Licences for gymnasts

LAUSANNE (SUI), FIG Office, May 26, 2011: The FIG licence for elite gymnasts came into force for the first time in October 2009. Some 10,000 passports have since been distributed and the concept has proven largely effective.

Valid for a two-year period, the time has come for renewal. All gymnasts participating in official FIG competitions or those organised by its unions will need to comply. Senior and junior Age Group competitors are also subject, and federations have been invited to update their respective files in the FIG database.

By signing the licence, a gymnast attests to the accuracy of his or her identity and age, and consents to having a profile created within the Anti-doping Administration and Management System (ADAMS), as required by the WADA Code (World Anti-doping Agency).

Only FIG affiliated federations having fulfilled their obligations may request or renew licences for their gymnasts"

if you go to the FIG licence viewer, chloe sims is NOT registered.

therefore chloe CANNOT compete in worlds

If you dont believe me, check for yourelf...

.....apparently it can take up to 6 months to obtain a licence

WOW

poor chloe

I wish someone told her ALOT earlier

.....do you think she knows?

Well it shows the gross ineptitude on the part of her coaches, QAS and GA if it has been overlooked. She has been training for her comeback for nearly a year now and nobody thought, 'hey, we better get Chloe back in the drug testing pool'??? Even though the license thing is new, they should know the WADA procedures and limitations like the back of their hands by now. Just shameful.

Anonymous said...

To be fair to everyone involved, if the process takes 6 months to complete we have no way of knowing if she already in the system but not yet approved.

Chloe Sims DOES appear to have a licence according to this:

http://www.sportcentric.com/vsite/vnavsite/page/directory/0,10853,5187-188452-205674-nav-list,00.html

It is number 00005695.

Interestingly, seems that Alex Eade is Australia's youngest licensed athlete with the FIG.

Anonymous said...

The licence is a different thing to the drug testing pool, btw. The licence is more about age verification.

I would like to ask this question,
to be selected to an Australian team, do gymnasts need to be on the National squad to be fully funded? Chloe,at the moment is not.I would suspect she would be hoping to be selected on to the National squad at the end of July. My understanding was that if you were not on the National squad you can be selected to an Australian team but your Program are up for the cost. I maybe wrong.

And to Anon at 5.18pm, I would hope Chloe would do better at Nationals than she did at Queensland states to be in medal contention in AA.

Obtaining a FIG licence is not difficult, nor will it take 6 months. FIG licenses were brought in to verify gymnast age after the various Olympic debacles. GA simply forwards passport copies, applications and a photo to FIG.

It is often done AFTER teams have been named – ie. a team is named, then GA as part of checking athlete eligibility applies for FIG licenses for those athletes that do not already have them.

This whole thing has been a typical execise in internet misinformation.

it's great isnt it 11.30? Skullduggery and hearsay and assumption et voila! a whole new world of information.
it's what makes this sport so colourful.

@ july 2 11.09

if you look at the top right hand corner, the last registered update was December 08
it only lasts 2 years. the licence has expired.

@4.52pm

id much prefer misinformation that can be confirmed/be corrected than no information at all! :)

personally i believe the truth is somewhere in the middle
