Elite Gym Massilia 2011

Just a quick result down the wire from France. I'll update as more come in.

Open Massilia - Australia 2 (Wheeler, Brown, Chung) finished third behind two Canadian teams on 154.450

The girls were in the purple and black flame leo from worlds.

I am assuming more photos will go up as the event unfolds, but for now there's a photo of Nikki on the first page of Gymnet's 2011 Massilia photo thread.

The Gymnastics Examiner has a report here.

Georgia Rose came second AA (53.65) with Nikki in 5th. Unfortunately, I can't see where Georgia W placed.

Master Massilia - World championship silver medallist Viktoria Komova was unbeatable here, but huge kudos to Emily Little for managing 3rd in the all-around! I can't seem to find scores on the official site or at Gymnet.

The team was in the pink and black leo from 2010 Worlds.

More photos (incl. podium shots) are up at Gymnet here.

A full report from GA can now be found here. Mez and Georgia Rose will now head to Tokyo! Good luck, girls!

Ok I am confused. do we have two Australian teams in france? Does anyone know if we can watch todays comp anywhere on the net?

Anonymous said...

ok sorry I think I worked it out, junior and senior teams???

Mez said...

There is an 'Australia' team and VWHPC team (7 girls in total).

I don't believe there is a stream to watch, but people are usually pretty diligent with videos.

Anonymous said...

Thank you for explaining that to me. Much appreciate it :)

And thank you for running this site. I always check your blog when there is a comp as it always gives me good sites to visit and other info that is sometimes very hard to find.

Thank you, that's very kind!

:)

We do have two Australian teams in France - an A and B team. There is no VWHPC team. They are competing for Australia.

Would you please post full results of the team competition, if you have them? Besides your site I failed to find any information on the meet. Thank you very much.

where are there scores for the Master Massilia

Anonymous said...

I have looked everywhere for the scores, what I have posted was all I could find. Only That Emily came 3rd in AA and Emily's BB scores nothing or nobody elses grr has been so frustrating trying to find out anything

Anonymous said...

I have been searching everywhere as well :( So painful

it's kind of unfortunate that we couldn't medal as a team with an A class selection of 4 from the world team against a B cohort of french and canadian juniors. They should be at home upgrading, not losing their confidence like this.

australia 1 team events came 4th by about 0.3 Just got this through my face book.

I am a bit confused. Did the team of Chung, Brown and Wheeler compete in both divisions. They are in the photos from Friday and Saturday. You can see Chung and Brown's beam scores from Saturday in the photos. Looks like they both fell. Seems they had a much better first day.

To anon 8.03pm. Just had contact. AUST 1 team Confidence sounds great so no need to worry about their confidence :) only missed out on a team placing by about 0.3, I thought our girls needed more internation experience? Mez I take my hat off to you So many differant opinions etc. Go Aussie girls I think your great and on track and by olympics you are going to show the rest of the world how good you really are.

So where are the Aussies? They did'nt get a mention in the Examiners report after the finals.??

Anonymous said...

brennan third on floor behind brevet & moors. brown third on bars behind nabieva & komova. little 5th on beam.

Anonymous said...

Brennan? I thought the team was Emily Georgia Georgia and Nikki? What did I miss?

Anonymous said...

There were 2 teams.Team 1 EL, MAM,AB,LM ? Team 2 GRB,NC,GW.
So what happened to GW, LM, MAM?

Anonymous said...

Yes , I thought Larissa would have been up there on Bars and Mary anne on Beam but there has been no mention of them.Thought Ash would have done better on beam. This is more or less our A team. Read that Canada sent B teams and Australia could'nt pass them?

Anonymous said...

Who else did the AA with Emily?Would love to be able to see all the scores and competitors. Only way to see exactly how we went.

Anonymous said...

Is Mary Anne injured again? Normally would'nt she do AA.She has'nt been mentioned any where.

Anonymous said...

MAM must have competed, she can be seen in one of the photo's on gymnet warming up for floor. She must not have done well. You can also see NC beam score, 5.7/7.00E
Must have fallen?

Anonymous said...

tbh, it seems like they just weren't up to it at this meet.

Anonymous said...

How can you say we were just not up to it. We had a girl place 3rd AA, 3rd floor and 3rd bars. Overall, I think this was pretty good. Most girls are winding down after worlds. You just need to see Komova's beam - very watered down. The other Russian girl had two falls on floor.
I also wouldn't pay too much attention to the French scores. They always score really high at these events.
Yes the Canadians did well. The girl who came 2nd is senior next year and should have her full program by now. She is in the same cycle. She is also a lot fresher as she did not compete at worlds.

I think Emily and Georgia Rose did quite well. Australia does seem to improve a lot at the major meets where it counts. I would have thought maybe Larrissa would gave done better on bars and Maryanne and Ashleigh would have done better on beam but still they did fairly well over all.

Anonymous said...

Well I am very proud of them just read an artical on Gymnastics australia. Well done Girls :) And well done Peggy for giving these girls the chance and the experiance. They can and will improve from this

Anonymous said...

So what happened to Georgia Wheeler? She wasn't
mentioned at all in the GA report in the team line ups.
Did she go?

Anonymous said...

Did anyone catch this comment in the GA report :

"Larrissa Miller performed a beautiful bar routine, but unfortunately the score did not reflect her efforts."

They really have on the blinders.

Larrissa has beautiful form, but has so many inbuilt deductions, for example, for bent arms, that her good form is completely offset. They have done nothing to address these issues since 2009 which is why she keeps scoring high 7s and low 8s in the international arena. They need to stop scoring her up in the high 14s and 15s domestically because they are just pretending the issues don't exist.

Anonymous said...

Wheeler is in GA pics from France but does not exist in their reports??

Anonymous said...

MAM was mentioned twice. Wheeler must have
been in team2.Who edits these articles?
Wouldn't be happy to be GW and not get a mention.
Interesting that it seems the team struggled because
we don't have enough AA gymnasts.

12:51am, again, someone left the door open to the troll cave and let you crawl out. what an ignorant statement to make. when GA does not send 5 judges like the canadians did, and have 16 french judges and the d judge was russian, the aussies did not have a chance, especially when prize money is involved. but, as an expert in all things gymnastics, you should have know that.
