And... Exhale.

Not much to report today, nothing about Nationals in the Victorian newspapers (hopefully tomorrow?) but it's early days yet. Who's excited!? I'm excited.

I just HAD to breathe a big digital sigh of relief because my application form for ethics clearance to conduct my "research project involving humans" (cf. Honours project involving interviews with primary school children) is finally completed after 6 insane weeks of re-hashing and stressing. It's finally ready to be mailed tomorrow. It's 50 pages long(!) and I have to provide 4 photocopied versions(!) so it's pretty full-on.

Uni kids, only take on Honours if you really think you can. It's hard yakka.

I hope to update later if/when Dasha's weekly column gets posted. Right now, I need to have breakfast (read: up early to amend form).

Everybody now:

It's the most wonderful tiiiiiiiiiiiiiime
of the yeeeaaaeeaaar...

What's your honours research on? And if you made a banner for Nationals, what would be on it? I'm beginning to consider actually doing this, but I don't know what to put on it and I have one day to get the material and make it, yay.

can't wait to see who will qualify for the olympic team!! :D

Honours... ugh!
I keep trying to make my thesis in some way related to gymnastics - but it never works. After 4 years my lecturers are just about sick of me and my apparently useless obsession. Nationals! Oh, question: Is the seating for Sunday's App Challenge allocated or is it all general admission seating?
Thanks,

I totally feel your pain..... I just had my ethics application rejected so now I need to fix it up and resubmit it :-(
(melanie, I managed to include gym in my project! I am sure there is hope for you!)

re. gym and newspapaers/tv, podium training started today and there were lots of interviews and filming etc going on! so keep an eye out tonight and tomorrow! :-)

I guess I'll be seeing you all at Nationals... at the App Challenge there's this tiny section that's allocated seating and the rest is GA. I've got allocated, but I'll probably be moving around the apparatus with each rotation anyway.

In news reports, Peggy is saying that 4 of the 6 spots on the Olympic team are secure - so thats Dasha, Lauren and who are the other 2 gymnasts that are seen as locks?

I think Peggy's 4 are Dasha, Lauren, Ash and Shona, though Shona apparently was struggling at yesterday's podium training so you never know

I'm glad to hear Ashleigh is in the mix, as shes stuck thru with lots of injuries...tho she looks very nervous in competition...which makes me nervous

Well this looks to confirm the belief that Ash and Shona have their spots on the team locked up.
I only count another 5 potentials listed in that article, 6 if you include Naomi so I don't know where Peggy is getting the whole 8 girls vying for 2 spots spiel from....maybe she's still hoping from a Hollie, Chloe and Netty comeback :P

Everyone talks about the top 4 but we LOVE Yves Berryman. Her guts and determination out in the arena today was pure inspiration.

why? what did she (Berryman) do?
