Prepare to shake your head and go, "Ah, those crazy kids."
We heard some sketchy details about the 'false alarm fire' at the AIS from Gymnastics Australia, but Olivia Vivian's latest blog entry lets us know a little bit more about what actually happened.
You also can't help but smile when she talks about how proud the team were at having Steve Waugh sit and talk with them (see photo in previous entry).
They depart for Beijing on August 1. I hope there are no more disasters!

It seems that Steve Waugh and Kate Allen aren't the only sports people that Peggy is using to inspire and advise the girls.
I was reading the Beijing now live blog with Libby Trickett when I saw this,
[Comment From Peggy Liddick OZGym Coach]
We are here at the AIS finishing our 4 week training camp. we are also beginning to taper, any advice for the gymnastics team, all first time olympians?
Libby Trickett - Try to enjoy the experience and try to keep it simple. It's no different to any other competition except that it's the Olympics. Do what you have always done and take the opportunity and try to step up.
Libby Trickett - And good luck! I hope to come and watch
Peggy's really going all out to get some insight into performing under pressure and dealing with nerves. Hopefully it will pay off, and if anyone has advice it's Libby. Going into Athens as world record holder she let nerves get the best of her but has really bounced back this quad to become the most succesful female in the pool at World Championships.
For anyone interested in reading Libby's blog it can be found here

Interesting! I mean, you expect to see the gymnasts asking that, not the coach. I know Trickett's been blogging live but, not being a swimming enthusiast, I've not been paying much attention. It'd be great if she came and watched, though. She's a high-profile athlete and it would be nice for them to cut to the crowd and you see athletes out there supporting the team. They do it at swimming but you never seem to see it at gym!
"It's no different to any other competition except that it's the Olympics". Sorry, but this made me laugh. It's hardly ground-breaking.
