Pacific Rim News: LOTS OF IT!

If you haven't 'liked' the Pacific Rim Championships page on Facebook, or are following on Twitter (PacRimChamps), then do it NOW.

Some cracking photos and videos are being added to each page simultaneously every day, and today's training session alone proved a goldmine.

You'll notice there are 7 Aussie girls on the floor; apparently Emma Nedov has travelled to Melbourne with the team. I believe this has to do with Georgia Wheeler's (noticeably strapped) knee?

Thanks to the Anon who posted these titillating tidbits...

"USA look unstoppable.
Marta has a new little fave in Kyla Ross who did some beaut bar work.
Bross and Sloan struggled on bars - but their difficulty is amazing - if they hit (and I suspect they will) they will be unbeatable.
Team AUS and team CAN had solid, solid training and the Chinese and Russians looked superb. Oh China on beam - sigh!
The junior Russians are the smallest girls in the arena bar one miniature Chinese girl. They all seemed pretty happy around Hisense today!"

And an AGB agent on the scene (possibly the same Anon, teehee) said ...

* New Zealand looked pretty good on Beam and floor!
* Larrissa Miller (AUS) did not appear to warm anything up other than bars
* Emma Nedov (AUS reserve) appeared to be training all apparatus with the rest of the team
* My friend overheard Marta Karolyi saying she liked the look of Georgia Rose Brown (AUS) (possibly just body-wise, not sure if she saw her actually doing gym...)
* Alexa Moreno (Mexico) has good tumbling! Very high! A real little powerhouse. Did Pike full in, double pike and very open double arabian tuck.
* Rebecca Bross (USA) was doing very cowboyed double fronts
* Alex Raisman (USA) was a sticking machine, stuck all her tumbling.... then bailed out of a roundoff and had a pretty spectacular fall. Walked it off, talked to her coach for a while and then went back and did 1.5 through to layout, which eventually became a double arabian.

This maybe be a stupid question, but wasn't Emma Nedov the junior reserve, and doesn't the team require 3 seniors and 3 juniors - so if Georgia is injured wouldn't they need to replace her with a senior?

Juniors can compete as seniors if needed, just not the other way around. Maybe they are just letting Emma Ned come for the experience.

I think the first anon sounds right (and not stupid at all). I think my source confused the two Georgias, maybe... which in turn confused me...? ;)

No, teams can definitely have more than 3 juniors if they want, they just can't have more than 3 seniors. With Britt out it makes sense for Emma Nedov to replace either an injured senior or junior, especially since there aren't really any other healthy seniors.

Alrighty, cheers.

Does anyone have any details on how the ozzies went in podium training. I really hope Larissa medals on bars she is beautiful.

The Aussies had a very nice, solid training. Larissa didn't train much besides bars. The rest was strong and faily clean... after watching the USA go before them on vault though, our difficulty level needs a big jump... but then again, the US did send their very best out!

I hope Georgia Rose competes the 2.5 as her last pass and doesn't squander the 0.5 from the CR on the double.

Thanks for the info!!!! I wish I could have been there... Go Australia :)

Yeah with Britt for the seniors out it would make sense for the next reseve to take the spot, although Georgia still might compete, lets see what happens!

does anyone know who is on the US team?

Why is britt out? Her back too bad that she can't be the reserve for the seniors anymore!

Georgia Wheeler was having a pretty solid training session. No signs of her having to be withdrawn from the competition whatsoever. Georgia-Rose looked good as well. Emma Nedov got a fair bit of training time on all events. She was OK, but not as solid as the actual team members. Larrissa only trained bars and did not do a good job. She'll have to do much better in competition if she is to make the final, let alone win it.

The US gymnasts are Bridget Sloan, Rebecca Bross, Aly Raisman, Jordyn Wieber, Sabrina Vega and Kyla Ross. That's pretty much the best team the US has at the moment.

The tiny Chinese girl is Zeng Siqi, who has a beam routine to die for.
