2 Days to Go: Articles

Georgia's mum featured in a small article today and there was a brief mention of Shona yesterday.

Dasha got a large picture and article in The Age yesterday. Unfortunately the wonderful picture didn't come with the online version!

There is still some negotiation happening as to whether or not Channel 7 will be broadcasting team finals, as neither men's nor women's are listed in any of their schedules. WAG qualification will be on from 6:30pm this Sunday. Personally, I hope we make team finals to answer critics and comments like this one.

If they don't show team finals I WILL march over there and murder them.

I am so sick of Australia. They have decided swimming is the only sport in the entire Games, and EVERYBODY else is going to be completely overlooked.

It doesn't seem to matter that gymnastics consistently tops polls as the most watched Olympic sport.

There's only so long I can watch people paddle in straight lines up and down a pool.

Swimming is sport for dummies.

Gosh Inside Gymnastics clearly has no idea about the strength of our team.

Yeh, it was unfortuante Hollie and Chloe retired but the other girls have totally stepped up and improved heaps since Stuttgart.

If we miss team finals, it will be because we miss and others hit, not because the team members left are poor quality. It really annoys me when people assume that an absence of the best known gymnasts means the remaining team is crap.

We have a 4.0 a-score advantage over Italy and 2.0 over France and GB.

One really bad performance a year ago with girls with little experience = Australia having a crap Olympics...yeah right. What so many people fail to realise is that Australia would've EASILY qualified for finals if every girl had have hit. Unfortunately a freak meltdown happened where everyone underperformed. I highly doubt that we will have 4 or 5 falls counted in our Beijing prelims.

I think we will do much better than Stuttgart. These girls don't have the kind of worries on their mind that I'm sure Chloe and Hollie did. They had a lot to prove, to themselves and to Peggy and to any doubters.

This team have prepared better than, I'd have to say, any that have come before it and that includes the Sydney team that had to handle home-turf expectations.

If the USA performed poorly, Marta and co. would come out with all manner of excusesna self-pitying media spin. Australia just takes the criticism quietly, accepts its mistakes, and improves in the face of doubt. It will make them stronger, if anything, and I am sure they will come out shining in Beijing. I posted those '91 Worlds vids for a reason, lovelies! The world thinks you don't belong in the final but then you stick it to them and give the performance of your life to prove that you do!
